Description

The Certified/Registered Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care to patients by assisting with clinical care and administrative tasks in the infusion center environment.

This is a full-time role, Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM out of our Woodbury and occasional shifts in Hudson.

Twin Cities Orthopedics is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.



Essential Functions:

  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, confirming purpose of visit.
  • Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation and document information in patient's chart.
  • Assist patient throughout the clinic and infusion center as needed.
  • Assist nursing with delegated tasks as needed.
  • Administration of oral and subcutaneous medications.
  • Respond to IV pump alarms and call lights.
  • Stock infusion center supplies and medication refrigerators.
  • Cleaning patient care areas and equipment within the infusion center.
  • Navigate, review and update patient EMR.
  • Working knowledge of practice management system, make, change and schedule infusion appointments.
  • Coordinate with pharmacies and external vendors to obtain medications for patients who participate in patient assistance programs.
  • Make and receive patient phone calls timely.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, care coordinators and all staff.
  • Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or nurse.
  • Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients' medical records prior to their appointment.
  • Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, etc.).
  • All other duties as assigned



Education and Experience Requirements:



  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program or associate degree program
  • Active Medical Assistant certification (CMA), or registration (RMA) or certified clinical medical assistant (CCMA) is required.
  • 1+ years' experience of Medical Assistant experience in a medical setting.
  • BLS certification, to be annually renewed

  • Travel independently throughout the clinic, office or infusion center (which may include movement from floor to floor); frequent bending, lifting, standing, stooping or sitting for long periods of time may be required
  • Work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately and meet deadlines
  • Communicate and interact in a respectful and professional manner
  • Prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the expectations of the daily operations
  • Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Understand and execute a variety of instructions
  • Effectively operate equipment and communicate on and operate the phone system
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting
  • Travel to other work locations, if required
