Department Information

The Institute for Matter and Systems (IMS), an Interdisciplinary Research Institute at Georgia Tech, solves societal, technological, and scientific challenges by integrating knowledge, methods, and expertise across disciplines:

Job Summary

The Laboratory Supervisor role will oversee lab operations, including personnel, scheduling, technical, and workflow functions. Act as the liaison between the laboratory, patients, and other staff.
This position will supervise assigned staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 - Manages the day-to-day operation of the laboratory to ensure appropriate staffing and testing capabilities are available

Job Duty 2 - Performs qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations using various analyzers and/or manual methods on specimen sources such as blood, urine, and other body fluids using established procedures

Job Duty 3 - Oversees the checking and transfer of data as necessary and takes steps to correct possibly inaccurate data before continued processing or release

Job Duty 4 - Oversees the monitoring of inventory/ordering by establishing and maintaining par levels and restocking points for general laboratory supplies and reagents

Job Duty 5 - Performs assigned duties in compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, applied sciences, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to three years of experience in a moderate to high complexity laboratory setting. Minimum of one year of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Background in chemical safety and equipment operation.
  • Hands-on experience with microfabrication processes such as thermal oxidation, photolithography, thin film deposition, etching, metallization, and metrology.
  • Basic understanding of microelectronic circuits (diodes, transistors, CMOS, logic circuits).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS

  • Proficiency in microfabrication cleanroom procedures and safety practices.
  • Leadership skills to effectively manage and lead. Effectively communicate with students and staff, clear documentation, and reporting skills for maintaining records and compliance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Anticipated salary $59,795 to $81,324 will be commensurate with qualifications.
