The
UNC Nutrition Research Institute (
NRI) is an internationally recognized center conducting innovative basic and translational science to establish how individual differences in nutrient requirements and responses to diet affect our nutritional needs. Our research contributes to the prevention and mitigation of chronic disease across the lifespan from periconception through aging.
Our Mission is to lead precision nutrition research through understanding how genetics and environment affect an individual's requirements for and responses to nutrients.
NRI principal investigators hold faculty appointments in the departments of Nutrition and Psychology at
UNC Chapel Hill. Their research interrogates nutrient roles in disease prevention, disease risk factors, and the impact of gene-environment and gene-nutrient interactions.

NRI and this position are in Kannapolis, NC, in the Charlotte region. |
| Position Summary |
NOTE: This position is located in Kannapolis, NC, appx. 2 hours from UNC's main campus.
Working under the general supervision of the Clinical Research Core Manager, the Clinical Nurse will manage repeated blood collection via IV catheter for timed meal tests. A total of nine (9) timed draws will be completed per participant over an approximately 4.5 hour period. The position may also assist with assessing potential study-related medical events while on site (i.e. advising on blood glucose or blood pressure per study protocol).
This is a 3-month position with the possibly of extension, dependent upon funding. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse in the State of North Carolina. |
| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- Experience with and comfortable in placing, assessing, and managing IVs for purposes of repeated blood collection. If no IVs experience, we are willing to train individuals with excellent phlebotomy skills
- Ability to work independently, possibly as the only licensed staff onsite during study visits (additional study staff and management available to support non-medical activities)

- Coursework in Nursing or related field
- Bilingual (Spanish) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
