The Engineering Technician V - Lead Skilled Trade Plumber duties include: working directly with customers (government and contractor) to review requirements and develop most effective and efficient solution. Will regularly meet with Facilities Manager and COR to relay critical issues and possible future failure rates. Installing in-line gages, regulators, valves, drainage lines, utility supply fixtures, reverse osmosis, and changing out filters during the renovation phase of new and existing laboratory modules. The lab uses many different chemicals, the contractor employee shall be responsible to work with requesters in determining what type of plumbing best fits the application of the requester. Tasking Includes: connecting utilities such as nitrogen, air, vacuum, and water to various types of research related equipment. The utility supply lines will often initiate in the utility cores and often require running connections from this core. Contractor shall be knowledgeable in plumbing drains made from glass or any other corrosive resistant plumbing hardware that is required due to the corrosive nature of chemicals discarded. The Engineering Technician V assigned for RY will assist scheduling workloads, procurement of materials and/or required subcontractor services. This technician performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, recommends and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others. Completed work is of a journeyman level or higher. This technician may train and be assisted by lower level technicians. Engineering Technician Vs are considered the subject matter experts in relation to day to day operations and shall be well versed in the various construction trades, local and federal polices and guidelines. Technicians at this level perform and oversee one or a combination of duties listed under Engineering Technician III and IV. Engineering Technician V shall assist as a liaison between the COR and other Technicians; ensuring that information is being passed and that tasks and requests are completed within timeline specified. Additionally, Engineering Technician V shall perform one or a combination of the following: Developing or reviewing designs by extracting and analyzing a variety of engineering data, applying conventional engineering practices to develop, prepare, or recommend schematics, designs, specifications, electrical drawings and parts lists. (Examples of designs include: detailed circuit diagrams; hardware fittings or test equipment involving a variety of mechanisms; conventional piping systems; and building site layouts). Liaison between government COR and contract position which requires development of short/long term planning for upgrades and replacement of ageing equipment and infrastructures. Build and manage daily schedules to ensure work orders are completed in a timely manner and provide daily progress/status updates to the customers. Must understand various internal and external functional areas involving work which requires coordination with other base organizations such as Civil Engineering, Base Environmental, Base Fire Department, and Base/RY Safety.
