Status: Exempt/Officer


Grade: 11


Salary Range: $72,000 - $122,000


Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.

Purpose/Objective:



Coordinate with Tax team regarding the Company's tax environment and positions. Exposure to all aspects of domestic income tax compliance and research in the unique and evolving field. Participate in the implementation of tax strategies that reduce tax liabilities and minimize exposures. Create efficient and effective tax procedures and workpapers. Monitor compliance with tax laws and regulations and create synergies that reduce external costs.



Key Accountabilities:




  • Perform extensive spreadsheet-based analysis, balance, research and reconcile all tax general ledger accounts, interact with business unit contacts and external sources. Prepare and reconcile tax related journal entries. 15%
  • Prepare the quarterly and year-end income tax provision. Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and best practices regarding tax workpaper documentation and memoranda including maintaining a tracking spreadsheet for uncertain tax positions (ASC 740-10). Prepare disclosures for annual report (10K), quarterly report (10Q), and regulatory filings including the tax footnotes and schedules. Prepare the return to provision calculation. 35%
  • Prepare tax return workpapers, manage tax return due dates and filings. Prepare and maintain a fixed asset roll forward, review of tax depreciation reports. Calculate, track and execute estimated tax payments. 25%
  • Prepare for and provide information requested for external and internal audits. Respond to and resolve misc. tax notices. 5%
  • Interpret and comply with federal and state statutes, regulations, and legislation. Monitor tax law changes, and proposed changes. 5%
  • Work closely with Tax Credit Manager to review and ensure accuracy of accounting for tax credits for internal and external reporting. 10%
  • Support the Company with related tax planning and special projects. Manage tax reporting and filing for special purpose entities. Participates in the integration of new acquisitions and divestiture of sold assets or entities. 5%
  • Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one's duties.



Education:




  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or other four year degree with equivalent accounting experience



Experience:




  • Minimum of 3 years in Tax Accounting preferred. Preferably a mixture of private and public experience
  • Banking industry experience a plus





Skills & Knowledge:




  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with various teams and external contacts
  • Demonstrated ability for problem-solving, independent work, and attention to detail
  • Highly proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Detailed oriented with ability to see the big picture.
  • Process improvement and deadline driven.
  • Team player able to work in a fast-paced environment.
