The Data Entry Clerk plays a vital role in supporting the Community Wellness and Health Promotion Department's immunization team. This position is responsible for accurately entering patient information into electronic medical records, verifying insurance and demographic details through phone outreach, and assisting with patient registration during immunization clinics. Additional duties include scanning documents into clinical records and providing general data entry support to ensure smooth clinic operations and high-quality patient care. The role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

***Please note that this position is contracted and is expected to end in June 2026.***

We Require

  • Six months of experience performing clerical duties or providing customer service in a healthcare setting
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis

Other Requirements

  • Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test

We Also Value

  • Experience working with the Arizona State Immunization Information System (ASIIS)
  • Experience with Waystar and AHCCCS insurance verification systems
  • Experience with electronic medical records systems.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Previous data entry experience

Job Contributions

  • Enter and validate patient information into the electronic medical record, including demographic information, insurance information, and vaccine history
  • Contact patients via phone to follow up on discrepancies in insurance and demographic information to assist in billing processes
  • Greet clients and check to ensure they have appointments, monitor the waiting rooms, assist clients in completing forms, and answer any questions
  • Answer phones and assist clients with making appointments, retrieving immunization records, and transfer calls to the appropriate office or agency

Working Conditions

  • This position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
  • This position requires the employee to be in the office and or customer-facing for all hours worked
  • Must be able up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
