What to Expect

TheNPI Technician is primarily responsible forensuringthesuccessfullaunch ofthe newest Energy products and sub-components,turningnewengineering design and mass production.

This role will be based out of the Greater Houston Area (TX)howeverwill be expected to work in Lathrop (CA) to supportprototypebuilds and validation for the first1-2months. Other travel may berequired. Travel plans and reimbursement will follow Tesla's Travel Policy and will be governed by the direct manager.


What You'll Do
  • Responsible forpreparing materials and tools for performing NPI builds, trialing new materials andmaintainingthe various NPI core functions to a high standard

  • Ability to execute efficiently against provided instructions, self-validate work for accuracy, check the quality ofpreviousoperations, and meet critical deadlines

  • Must have the capacity to be able todocumentand verbally provideconstructive feedback, define/iterate/documentstandard work, and suggest process improvements

  • Ability to support field investigations, instrumented/non-Plan of Record builds, and unique projects in support of our cross-functional teams

  • This role includes hands-on product build validation, collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure factory and line readiness as well as ensuring critical timelines are met through effective execution of key milestones

  • SupportOperationsand Projectson the production line as necessary


What You'll Bring
  • Associate'sDegree inElectronic, Metallurgy, Welding or some technical certificate or equivalent experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment

  • Must havea high levelof craftsmanship and attention to detail, while working in an environment that requires quick action

  • Knowledge in Fanuc Robot, WTC Weld Controller, Lincoln power source - Power Wave (Desirable)

  • Knowledge in Resistance Spot Welding (RSW), GMAW MIG, Destructive Test (DT), and Nondestructive Test (DT) (Desirable)

  • Communicates test results, ideas, and problems to supervisor and engineers; able to be part of the solution

  • Typically involves a variety of operations (including troubleshooting and rework) requiring a sufficient understanding of the functional operation of the items assembled as well as the finished product

  • Skilled in troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systemsplus skilled with the use of a variety of hand and portable tools
