POSITION SUMMARY



Protective Force Instructor is responsible for oversight to the facilities security guard shifts. This role includes all required training, the management of and overall operational effectiveness of site security, the dispatch center, and administrative support to the overall effectiveness of facility security operations and client interaction.



COMPENSATION



$44.00/hour



RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Provides quality high risk firearms and tactics instruction to students working on both federal and commercial armed and unarmed security contracts.
  • Provides course instruction to uniformed security officers and support personnel to ensure knowledge, skills, abilities, and the desired level of proficiency is achieved and maintained in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, that may include; DOE directives, and other security related policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for teaching and training individuals on the safe and effective use of firearms and tactics.


  • Provide instruction on firearm safety, handling, and maintenance.
  • Educate clients on firearm laws, safety protocols, and practical use.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and conducting inspections of firearms.
  • Develop lesson plans and training sessions for various types of firearms that will be used within the complex and tactics that support active shooter response and other threat scenarios.
  • Operate on a flexible schedule (to include nights and weekends) with varying hours at all facilities and approved training locations in order to meet the client's training mission and training requirements.
  • Responsible for supervisory functions to include but not limited to post audits and inspections, assist with day-to-day security operations, adhere to and enforce security guard related standards of performance and conduct as directed by security force leadership.
  • Applicant must be certified in dispatch, emergency operations, national incident management, along with requirements to oversee the operations of a Central Alarm Station (CAS) operation or meet requirements that reasonably assure the individual will be certified within 90 days of assuming the position.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (to include nights and weekends) with varying hours at all facilities and approved training locations in order to meet the directed training mission and training requirements.
  • Provides course instruction to uniformed officers and support personnel to ensure knowledge, skills, abilities, and the desired level of proficiency is achieved and maintained in accordance with federal regulations, Company directives, policies and procedures.
  • The Instructor must be willing to work a flexible schedule (to include nights and weekends) with varying hours at all facilities and approved training locations in order to meet the directed training mission and training requirements.
  • Performs Supervisory functions to include but not limited to post audits and inspections, assist with day-to-day security operations, adhere to and enforce Protective Security Force Standards of performance and conduct as directed by Protective Security Force leadership.
  • Lead Instructs/Assistant Instructor for all Core Curriculum Courses.
  • Lead Instructor/Assistant Instructor for all Contracted Courses.
  • Teaches customized training courses.
  • Conducts mobile training.
  • Explains and demonstrates use of various security apparatuses and equipment.
  • Evaluates the abilities of individual participants to determine suitable corrective or remedial training.
  • Maintains overall safety and organization of the training environment.
  • Must be able to accurately record and maintain impeccable training and certification records on all personnel.
  • Ensures safety of students.
  • Communicates and oversees compliance with company policy, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Ensures accountability for all training equipment.
  • Identifies in a timely manner training requirements needed to maintain required certifications and company standards and completes all required continuing education and refresher training programs.
  • Completes any additional training and/or certifications required by local ordinances, state, government, and other certifying agencies IAW the security contract.
  • Must be able to qualify with all guard force assigned weapons (side arm and rifle) and maintain currency semi-annually in order to provide firearms instruction.
  • Occasional travel is required and must be willing to work rotating shifts


  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions. Position requires outside work in all weather conditions. May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting for prolonged periods throughout the workday. Climb 8 or more flights of stairs. May require both internal and external facility exposure to changing temperatures and weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS



  • US Citizen required with a valid social security card
  • Must possess a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Applicant must possess at least 3 years of demonstrated experience and knowledge of law enforcement or security methodologies.
  • Eight years of practical experience in Law Enforcement and/or Military Special Operations preferred.
  • Previous experience as an instructor to include teaching, testing and evaluating students on various Protective Security Force security systems, policies, and procedures preferred.
  • Applicant must possess a Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) Armed Security Officer license or meet requirements that reasonably assure a Texas Department of Public Safety Armed can be obtained and maintained.
  • Applicant must or should achieve a firearm qualification score of 70% or higher on their Centerra firearm qualification course of fire.
  • Applicant must successfully complete the appropriate TXDPS certification courses for the instructor position = Basic Instructor Training, Force Instructor (Defensive Tactics) Certification
  • American Red Cross First Aid/CPR & AED Instructor Certification
  • Firearms Instructor Certification (FIC) Course preferred
  • Applicants must have strong writing skills and be able to develop various documents using Microsoft Office tools and applications.
  • Computer literate with basic proficiency in MS Office required.
  • Effective in oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion.
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Must pass background investigation, physical, drug, and psychological screening, and have no legal disqualifiers to possess firearms, meeting background screening and U.S. Government suitability requirements.
  • May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting for prolonged periods throughout the workday. Climb 8 or more flights of stairs.
  • May require both internal and external facility exposure to changing temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Requires conducting foot patrols and response to alarms in varied weather conditions. 90% of the work will require some sort of physical activity.
