Job Overview

Supports the Blood Donor Center through blood donor qualification and collection, and blood component preparation.

Additional Information:

Hours per week: PRN (As needed)

Shift: Hours will be determined by the needs of the department. Must be available minimum eight (8) shifts per month. Holiday rotation required. Shifts are typically 10 hours and can vary from 6:00am to 10:00am start time.

This role may require mobile blood drive coverage depending on staffing needs.

  • Accurately qualifies donors for apheresis (center operations only) or whole blood donations.
  • Performs all Blood Collection and Laboratory functions according to SOP direction, FDA requirements and the guidelines established by accrediting agencies.
  • Performs whole blood and apheresis collections (center operations only) optimizing collection productivity while ensuring donor safety and product quality, purity and potency.
  • Takes preventative action, recognizes and responds appropriately to adverse reactions to blood donations.
  • Performs post blood collection product processing.
  • Provides exceptional customer care to internal and external customers. Initiates service recovery where appropriate.
  • Participates in occasional and special projects such as, validations, teaching, training, and observations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • EXPERIENCE - Strong emphasis on excellent interpersonal and communications skills. One year of experience in the following areas: donor and/or patient phlebotomy.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $18.44 to $27.67
