Responsibilities

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Materials Specialist II in our Torrance, California location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain inventory accuracy and control of material stores including finished goods and raw materials

  • Package, stage, and ship finished goods. When necessary, expedite critical shipments

  • Assist with cycle counting

  • Responsible for the flow and movement of materials to and from the factory

  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement daily by your actions

  • Take the initiative to resolve materials related issues with interaction from supervisor/Manager

  • Perform other tasks as needed in support of manufacturing operations, customers, and suppliers

  • Comply with all EHS rules and regulations and supervisory instructions. Report all incidents including injuries, spills, fires, property damage, and near misses to their supervisor

  • Able to work with minimum or no supervision

  • Practice 5s standards and keep area clean daily

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift/move 30 lbs. (may not exceed per EHS policies)

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Minimum 3+-year experience related to materials and/or shipping/receiving

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Review production schedule, schedule change notices, and reports or records of the status of work orders to identify any production delays.
  • Follow up on special requests or work orders from production supervisors to support departments to ensure communications of such requests, and to identify anticipated or actual delays in the delivery of resources or support services to production department.
  • Able to perform physical counts of products/components in the manufacturing process or in storage as needed to assist in inventory audits.
  • Able to perform pull Work Order, Shippers, dormant inventory, and packing of finished goods per S-71117
  • Knowledge on scale counting
  • Experience in packing and shipping (FedEx and UPS label system).
  • Knowledge on QAD and Oracle
