Primary Purpose of Department
The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services ( CAPS) at Charlotte supports the holistic well-being and academic success of students by providing clinical services, educational outreach programs, case management, and professional training. We serve as a welcoming, affirming, and accessible campus resource to support students' well-being.
Primary Purpose of Position

  • Provides direct service to students in the form of initial assessments, clinical case management, brief clinical intervention, and crisis intervention; consultation with faculty, staff, students, and others.
  • Outreach and crisis response to the campus community; supervision of trainees; and service to the University.

Summary of Position Responsibilities

  • Provides direct service to students in the form of initial assessments, clinical case management, brief clinical intervention, and crisis intervention.
  • Consults with faculty, staff, students, and others.
  • Provide outreach and psychoeducational programming services to students on topics related to mental health and holistic wellbeing.
  • Supports training seminars for trainees, students, faculty and staff.


Minimum Education/Experience
Master's degree in social work, or other closely related field. Two or more years' experience in the evaluation and treatment of individuals whose age and psychological development is similar to traditional and non-traditional college students. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Strong clinical skills, interest, and experience providing clinical case management and assessment to a student population.
Necessary Certifications/Licenses
Will consider applicants if they are license-eligible as a clinical social worker, with requirement to become independently licensed within 12 months of hire date.
Preferred Certifications/Licenses
Full independent licensure within the State of North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker ( LCSW).
