Woolpert is seeking to hire an Architectural Team Leader for our Virginia Beach, VA location. This role may accommodate full-time in-person/hybrid working arrangements. Seeking local Virginia Beach, VA candidates.

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to the group to achieve discipline, individual and team goals. This position is key in establishing and improving levels of technical competence, quality and efficiency of projects. The position monitors the quantitative and qualitative achievements of the team. Experience with multiple Private Market studios/submarkets; Retail, Hospitality, Mixed-use, Multi-Family, Industrial and Corporate is required.

What You Will Do:



  • Responsible for supervising, managing and motivating team members daily to function in a goal-oriented manner.
  • Through supportive leadership create an inspiring and trusting team environment promoting the growth of team members with an open communication culture.
  • Utilize their expertise, their peers, their influence, and/or creativeness to formulate smooth team operations and effective team collaboration.
  • Effectively resolves conflict within team by initiating and facilitating communication.
  • Responsible for effective planning and scheduling of workload and performance of team members.
  • Ensures team is right sized, right skilled and managed.
  • Interview and hire team members in collaboration with the Regional Team Leader.
  • Listen to team feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts escalating issues if needed.
  • Partners with Human Resources for strategic people management duties.
  • Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments.


What You Will Bring:



  • BA/BS degree in Architecture
  • A minimum of 10 years of related work experience is required
  • Have an active professional registration (Registered Architect/P.E.)
  • Experience managing goals, expectations, motivating and directing employees to promote growth, both firm and individual
  • Strong ability to facilitate technical discussions when needed
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to negotiate, influence and manage risk
  • Be able to effectively communicate in both internal and external relationships for all essential job functions
  • Be able to make sound decisions/recommendations based on the evaluation and synthesis of project information and data
  • Demonstrate an enterprising, innovative, proactive management approach
  • May travel for meetings up to 10%
