The Tax Analyst II plays a critical role in Owens Corning's global income tax compliance and accounting function, with responsibility for calculating and analyzing domestic book/tax differences as well as assisting with income tax provision calculations in accordance with ASC 740. This position supports the federal, state, and local income tax compliance process by preparing tax filings, assisting with audits, and contributing to process improvements. In addition, the role will partner with third-party providers to determine the current year tax deductions related to fixed assets, intangibles, and finance leases as well as prepare the related book/tax basis reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Compliance & Accounting



  • Assist with the global quarterly and year-end tax provision process by preparing ASC 740 calculations and reviewing reporting packages under guidance.
  • Preparing income tax account reconciliations for assigned tax accounts including both deferred tax and tax payable balances.
  • Collaborate with third-party providers on fixed assets, intangibles, and finance lease tax depreciation calculations as well as the preparation of the related book/tax reconciliations to ensure proper tax accounting treatment and compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation of U.S. federal, state, and local income/franchise tax returns
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, global tax personnel, and cross-functional teams to provide timely and accurate tax accounting support.
  • Coordinate with external auditors by supplying requested information and supporting tax provision reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving tax laws and regulations.


Technical Research & Process Improvement



  • Conduct and document technical tax research to support compliance positions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay current on tax law changes and assess their impact on compliance.


Collaboration & Communication



  • Partner with Business Units, Global Tax, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment.
  • Communicate tax positions and developments effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Support special projects related to compliance and tax reporting.



JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications



  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related area required; CPA certification, a MS or JD in Taxation, preferred


  • Minimum 2 years of relevant tax experience in corporate or public accounting.
  • Experience with corporate federal and state/local income tax compliance.


Technical Proficiency



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel preferred.
  • Experience with tax compliance software (e.g., OneSource).
  • Familiarity with tax research tools (e.g., RIA Checkpoint, BNA, CCH).
  • Knowledge of general ledger systems (e.g., SAP, BPC).
