Operations managers in manufacturing oversee the entire production process to ensure products are made on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. They manage resources such as labor, equipment, and materials, while optimizing workflows to reduce waste and improve productivity.

Day-to-day work for operations managers involves overseeing production schedules, managing workforce allocation, monitoring equipment performance, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. A significant portion of their time is spent on the plant floor-observing processes, addressing issues in real time, engaging with team members, and ensuring smooth operations.

Your Role as an Intern

You will be a part of a dynamic team, supporting the following tasks:

As an Operations Intern, you will support day-to-day business execution by helping streamline workflows, document processes, and keep cross-functional initiatives on track. You will analyze operational data, build simple reports and dashboards, and surface insights that improve efficiency, cost, and service levels.

You will assist with project coordination by scheduling, tracking action items, preparing meeting materials, and communicating status updates to stakeholders.

You will contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying bottlenecks, proposing practical solutions, and supporting implementation and change management.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive candidate who is comfortable working with ambiguity, collaborating across teams, and learning quickly in a fast-paced environment.

What Do We Require?

You must be:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Business Administration, Manufacturing, Process Engineering or related field
  • Candidates should have experience with Excel, and Power BI
  • Ideal candidates will possess the following: self-starter, thinks outside the box, willing to get their hands dirty, analytical and a team-player
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Willing and able to work on-site at our Clearwater, FL location.
  • Applicants MUST be US Citizens or Green Card Holders due to Carpenter's government contracts.

Pay Range

Hourly rates are based on: 1 - Program of study; 2 - Degree type (i.e., Bachelor's); 3 - Progression in degree (i.e., 1st year, 2nd year, etc.). The range for this position is $19.50-$25.00 per hour.

Commuting/Housing Assistance (If Eligible)

Interns who must commute to work from outside the immediate Clearwater, FL area (over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $2,400 (less applicable taxes) as excessive commute allowance. Interns who choose to temporarily relocate from outside the immediate Clearwater, FL area (moving over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $4,800 (less applicable taxes) as a housing allowance. If applicable, this payment would be made during the first payroll cycle, which would be three or four weeks following the internship start date.
