Description

UDR, Inc. is now hiring a Corporate and Retail Accounting Supervisor to join our team at our corporate office in Highlands Ranch.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Prepare, develop, and analyze management accounting information following established policies and procedures in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to provide financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within the organization. This role will provide supervision and support of the accounting function.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the Senior Director - Property and Transactions Accounting

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Accountant - Corporate and Retail

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Review balance sheet entries and accounts to ensure proper balance is maintained and reconciled. Ensure appropriate entries are made and errors are reclassified to the appropriate account(s).

2. Responsible for booking and reviewing retail accounting records in Yardi and PeopleSoft and ensuring the Yardi subledger is accurate and reconciles to the general ledger. Work with third party managers and retail operations group to confirm retail property financials are reported timely and accurately. Make adjustments as needed.

3. Track receivables, reimbursement billings, leasing commissions, and straight-line rent related to all retail tenants.

4. Monitor retail invoices to be accurately coded and paid timely.

5. Responsible for troubleshooting any accounting related system issues within Yardi and working with Yardi support for resolution. Serve as the point contact for Yardi related issues for the third-party managers and retail operations group.

6. Maintain the real estate tax reconciliation and supporting files and record all related journal entries.

7. Review the daily deposit and all related journal entries that are prepared by the Corporate and Retail Accountant. Will also provide backup assistance to this process if needed.

8. Assist with testing and validation for PeopleSoft and Yardi system upgrades.

9. Work with outside consulting agencies to assist in reviewing and completing quarterly and year-end audits and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and testing requirements.

10. Responsible for other ad hoc reports and projects as assigned.

Management

11. Hire and train new staff and develop staff to maximize potential.

12. Supervise direct reporting staff in accordance with overall company policy.

13. Monitor staff performance including performance reviews and address performance problems through corrective action and dismissal.

14. Approve time records and requests for time off.

15. Assist direct reporting staff to address and resolve concerns or complaints involving job duties and job descriptions, performance standards, relations with coworkers, relations with supervisors and managers.

16. Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

2. Minimum of five years' related experience in accounting functions required.

3. Management and/or supervisory experience preferred.

4. Experience with PeopleSoft and Yardi systems strongly preferred.

Salary Range:
* $94,000.00/yr. - $104,000.00/yr., depends on experience

Bonus Potential:
* Eligible for 10% annual bonus potential, based on personal and company performance
