Job Description

Job Summary:

The Casting Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of hourly employees engaged in the cast production of iron pipe. This position operates in a heavy industrial foundry environment and is accountable for safety, quality, and production performance while leading employees in highheat, laborintensive, and physically demanding conditions.

Pay rate between $75,000 to $85,000.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily casting operations and direct 30-35 hourly employees.
  • Examine materials and production processes at various stages to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Observe and monitor casting machinery and production flow.
  • Interpret production specifications, procedures, and schedules.
  • Adjust work assignments and procedures to meet production and safety requirements.
  • Resolve operational and personnel issues as they arise.
  • Maintain accurate time, tonnage, scrap, and production records.
  • Ensure adequate raw materials are available on the casting and core floors.
  • Verify completion of all required documentation, including startup checklists and weight comparisons.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Supervisors to ensure consistent and efficient production.
  • Ensure all required training is completed, including JSAs, safety talks, and Pure Safety requirements.
  • Conduct safety audits and enforce lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Administer discipline to hourly employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Carry out supervisory duties in compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Other duties as assigned

Quality Responsibilities:

  • Communicate regularly with Quality Inspectors regarding pipe quality.
  • Respond promptly to feedback from Quality and Inspection teams.
  • Inspect molded pipe prior to entering the annealing process.
  • Identify and remove nonconforming product.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Casting Department Quality Checkpoint Guides, including:
    • Pipe identification
    • Process markings
    • Nonconforming pipe markings
    • Nonconforming pipe conditions
Qualifications

The qualifications/position requirements identified below list the skill level, ability, and knowledge required to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.   • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Previous experience in a heavy industrial or foundry environment strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work in harsh conditions, including high heat, outdoor exposure, and physically demanding environments.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. manually and heavier loads with equipment assistance.
  • Experience supervising employees performing laborintensive work.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety practices (lockout/tagout, safety audits, JSA).
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to maintain production and quality records.
