At Sonos we want to create the ultimate listening experience for our customers and know that it starts by listening to each other. As part of the Sonos team, you'll collaborate with people of all styles, skill sets, and backgrounds to realize our vision while fostering a community where everyone feels included and empowered to do the best work of their lives.

Location: Boston, MA - Hybrid, if office 3x/week

At Sonos, we are passionate about creating the ultimate listening experience, and that starts with how we build software. The Software Delivery and Operations group designs, develops, and operates the shared platforms, tools, and processes that enable Sonos teams to deliver high-quality software efficiently and securely.

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager who is growing into a senior role to help drive initiatives that improve developer experience, software quality, and operational excellence through better systems, smarter processes, and strategic use of AI.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering and IT, contributing to and increasingly shaping the systems and workflows that power Sonos product development across cloud, mobile, web, and embedded platforms. It is well suited for someone who is building depth in technical program leadership and is motivated to scale their impact in complex, cross-functional environments.

About You
  • You care deeply about how software gets built and are motivated to make it better.
  • You bring a strong foundation in program management, paired with growing technical fluency and a desire to understand systems at a deeper level. You are developing your ability to lead through ambiguity, influence without authority, and create structure where it does not yet exist.
  • You believe that great systems empower great teams and are excited about the potential of AI-assisted development to unlock new levels of speed, quality, and creativity.
  • You actively stay current with industry trends in developer tooling, AI, and automation, and bring forward ideas, perspectives, and emerging practices from the external market to improve how Sonos builds software.
  • You are comfortable owning well-defined program areas while expanding toward broader, more complex initiatives with guidance from senior leaders.
What You Will Do Advance the Software Development Ecosystem
  • Drive and contribute to cross-functional programs that enhance Sonos shared software platforms, including build systems, CI/CD, telemetry, testing, security, and release management.
  • Improve how software is developed, tested, and delivered, balancing speed, quality, and reliability.
  • Partner with engineering and IT teams to evolve the software operating model, including work tracking, planning, and progress measurement.
  • Establish and scale program structures, templates, and dashboards that improve visibility and predictability.
Lead AI and Automation Initiatives
  • Drive initiatives that integrate AI-assisted development tools such as code assistants, agentic reviewers, and intelligent automation into Sonos developer workflows.
  • Bring forward external perspectives and emerging practices in AI-assisted software development, helping Sonos stay at the forefront of industry evolution.
  • Leverage AI to improve code quality, security, and developer productivity through automation, testing, and intelligent insights.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to ensure AI tooling enhances developer creativity and accelerates delivery.
  • Champion responsible and strategic use of AI across the software lifecycle, with a focus on measurable impact.
Enable Developer Productivity and Platform Excellence
  • Collaborate across cloud, mobile, and embedded teams to define and evolve shared development workflows and "golden paths" that reduce friction while maintaining team autonomy.
  • Partner with Product Security, System Test, and Product Data teams to ensure testing, telemetry, and security practices are integrated into development.
  • Drive alignment between developer tooling, SDLC practices, and release operations to deliver consistency without unnecessary friction.
  • Use data and feedback to identify and prioritize improvements in systems, tooling, and processes.
Program Operations and Execution
  • Help maintain operating cadences for planning, reviews, and reporting.
  • Build and manage work tracking and reporting systems using tools such as Jira, GitHub, and Confluence.
  • Support adoption and evolution of engineering metrics frameworks such as DORA and SPACE.
  • Build experience in capacity planning, dependency management, and risk mitigation while taking increasing ownership over time.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of experience supporting or leading technical programs in software engineering or platform-focused environments.
  • Working knowledge of modern software development practices such as Agile, CI/CD, and DevSecOps, along with common tools such as GitHub, Jenkins or GitHub Actions, AWS, and Jira.
  • Strong technical fluency, with the ability to engage meaningfully with engineering teams on developer tooling, systems, and automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to initiatives that improve engineering velocity, quality, or operational reliability.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and build alignment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with or strong interest in AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, LLM-based workflows, or automated code review systems.
  • Familiarity with software telemetry, developer analytics, or engineering intelligence platforms.
  • Experience working in environments that include cloud, mobile, or embedded systems.
  • Understanding of engineering metrics such as DORA or SPACE.
  • Passion for developer experience and platform engineering as long-term career areas.
