Description
As a Principal Food Service Worker, you'll serve meals to patients, visitors, and staff at the Santa Monica Hospital Cafeteria. You'll work at both hot and cold stations, serving prepared dishes, making sandwiches, answering basic foodrelated questions, and keeping each station stocked and looking good. Responsibilities include:
- Setting up service lines for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Pre-plating food items
- Restocking stations, including beverages
- Supporting operations as a food runner, floor person, or tray person
- Displaying and merchandising food items so they're appealing and easy to access
Qualifications
- Knowledge of food portion control, serving procedures, and food production.
- Knowledge of retail operations such as station setup, replenishment, merchandising and inventory procedures.
- Knowledge of various kitchen tools and equipment.
- Ability to follow standardized recipes.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
- Ability to work in standing position for a long period of time; stretch, bend, walk, stoop, and reach repetitively in hot, cold and/or wet areas.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift 50+ lbs.
- Ability to work around and use strong cleaning solutions.
- Knowledge of, and adherence to prescribed safety, sanitation, and food handling practices according to HACCP and JC policies.
- Must have the ability to adjust to fluctuating work load and work schedules.
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with co-workers, customers, supervisors and managers.
- Able to read, write, and communicate in standard English.
- Preferred:
- 1+ years in the food service industry.
