Client's IR Scientific and Cloud Computing team is looking for a highly motivated Engineer that will be responsible for engineering and at times the implementation of both cloud and on-premise solutions supporting scientific and R&D related activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of AWS, HPC, Linux, Server and Workstation hardware, Docker and Kubernetes/EKS along with multiple automation/DevOps toolsets and practices. This candidate should have the experience and ability to provide consultation and support cloud solutions with a focus on best practices and security. This role will be expected to investigate and engineer new technologies focused on containerization and automation to enhance and secure platforms while fostering agility to the business.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

* Implement and deploy CI/CD based solutions

* Support day-to-day AWS cloud infrastructure operations across development and production environments

* Assist with provisioning, updating, and maintaining AWS resources

* Troubleshoot EC2, IAM, VPC networking, and cloud storage issues

* Assist with patching, upgrades, and general platform maintenance

* Troubleshoot and/or perform Linux/UNIX Systems Administration tasks as needed - both on-premises and cloud

* Implement and maintain infrastructure - both on-premises and cloud

* Support Ansible and Jenkins pipelines used for infrastructure and platform automation

* Write and maintain scripts using Bash, Python, YAML and other

* Provide support for HPC related tasks

* Perform testing, validation, and operational support during migration phases

Qualifications

Requirements:


* Bachelors Degree with 4 years experience; Masters Degree with 3 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field.

* 3-5 years of experience

* Experience implementing and managing orchestration and automation tools or platforms (Jenkins, Git Flow)

* Experience with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)

* Strong scripting experience (Bash, Python, YAML)

* Experience managing Linux systems (RHEL, Ubuntu)

* Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services

* Experience implementing and maintaining CloudFormation stacks

* Experience implementing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, JIRA, CloudFormation, Terraform)

Optional Experiences that are a plus:

* Exposure to HPC environments, Slurm, or AWS ParallelCluster

* Experience with high performance and cloud storage solutions, including WEKA, Amazon EBS, EFS, and FSx Lustre

* Experience supporting research, scientific, or data-intensive computing workloads

* Experience working in a Data Science, Life Sciences or Pharmaceutical Industry

* Experience working in regulated or enterprise IT environments

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:

* Ability to work independently, multitask and prioritize work requirements with minimal supervision

* Comfortable working in a dynamic environment and developing flexible solutions to meet evolving requirements

* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills: demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with scientists, developers, application analysts, managers and IT

* Good presentation, training and documentation skills are essential

* Ability to successfully collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds and levels within and external to the organization.

Significant Work Activities:

Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
