Loyola University Chicago is seeking an Assistant Professor to develop an internationally recognized, extramurally funded research program; Contribute to graduate education in the Pharmacology and Neuroscience PhD, MS/ MBA and MS programs; Mentor PhD, MS, and BS level trainees to conduct high-quality, ethically sound research; Provide service to the LUC and Stritch School of Medicine research and education community; Cultivate a culture of equitable inclusion; Participate in graduate student and medical student education; Teach in some or all of the following settings: classroom, small groups, laboratory and research environments. Up to 10% domestic and international travel required. Up to 30% remote work allowed.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics or related field plus 5 years related experience. Prior experience must include: Develop and implement independent research studies on RNA splicing, and alcohol use disorder, providing a foundation for establishing an extramurally funded research program; Integrated multi-disciplinary approaches by combining molecular biology, behavioral neuroscience, and bioinformatics to address complex research questions, aligning with the expectation of developing a comprehensive research program; Apply computational pipelines to analyze high throughput sequencing datasets, ensuring high-quality, ethically sound research outcomes; Contribute to grant proposals by formulating hypotheses, designing aims, and generating preliminary data, aligning with the duty to build an extramurally funded program; Authored and co-author multiple peer-review publications in molecular neuroscience, supporting the goal of developing an internationally recognized research program; Supervise and training graduate students and postdoctoral trainees in laboratory techniques, data analysis, and scientific writing, aligning with duties to mentor PhD, MS students.

This salary range is for a 12-month academic appointment. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree; training; field or discipline; budget availability; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
