The Heart Institute Summer Administrative Intern supports operational, analytical, and administrative needs across the Heart Institute at Children's Hospital Colorado. This role provides hands-on exposure to healthcare administration, strategy execution, and operational improvement within a complex, mission-driven clinical enterprise. The intern will assist with project-based work that strengthens administrative infrastructure, supports leadership decision-making, and improves consistency across tools, processes, and documentation.
This position is ideal for a student interested in healthcare administration, business, or public health who is seeking practical experience in a hospital service-line environment. The intern will work under close supervision from Heart Institute leadership and designated project sponsors.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative & Operational Support
* Organizes and standardizes administrative files, templates, and reference materials across shared drives and platforms.
* Assists in developing and documenting onboarding and offboarding checklists and workflows for administrative and rotating team members.
* Inventories and helps standardize commonly used administrative tools, trackers, and templates.
Analytical & Business Support
* Performs basic data analysis and trend identification to support operational discussions and leadership decision-making.
* Conducts background research and compiles data to support business cases, presentations, and strategic planning materials.
* Assists with preparation of summaries, tables, and visuals for leadership review.
Strategic Execution & Project Management Support (Administrative Scope)
* Builds and maintains a master tracker of Heart Institute strategic initiatives, including status, ownership, and key milestones.
* Drafts and updates one-page initiative summaries based on input from project owners.
* Supports milestone tracking, meeting notes, and action-item follow-up for selected initiatives.
SCOPE AND LEVEL * Guidelines: Trains in the field and assists higher-level personnel to acquire learning through practical experience.
* Complexity: Performs routine and project-based tasks with clearly defined objectives and supervision. Procedures and methods are established, with opportunities to learn judgment and prioritization.
* Decision Making: Limited to applying organizational guidelines to assigned tasks; non-routine issues are escalated to supervisor.
* Communications: Interacts with internal staff to gather, clarify, and relay information according to established procedures.
* Supervision Received: Works under close supervision; work products are reviewed regularly for quality and accuracy.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Hourly Range: $13.63 to $20.44
