Quality Lab Technician

The primary duties of the Laboratory Technician include inspecting/testing various materials to determine conformance to customer orders/specifications. In addition, accountability for properly recording, verifying, and reporting all these activities is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely and follow all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) rules, procedures, and safety policies.
  • Ensure production and product quality meet or exceed internal and external customer expectations.
  • Identify, report, and communicate deviations from quality standards.
  • Correct quality issues when possible or escalate promptly for rootcause investigation and corrective action.
  • Prepare materials, equipment, and work areas for the next shift.
  • Complete any unfinished dispositions, data entries, and reports from the previous shift.
  • Perform testing on incoming materials, inprocess samples, and final products according to established specifications.
  • Determine product or material acceptability based on specifications and job knowledge.
  • Properly label and identify all products and materials.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Notify appropriate personnel when materials or products fail to meet specifications.
  • Document, classify, and disposition nonconforming materials and maintain appropriate traceability.
  • Prepare samples for internal or external testing as needed.
  • Operate lab testing equipment in accordance with Job Task Analyses (JTAs).
  • Conduct daily equipment checks, upkeep, and calibration activities.
  • Support Process Engineers and Manufacturing teams with testing or data needs.
  • Complete Special Request testing in addition to routine production testing.
  • Maintain and update test logs, SPC charts, repeatability studies, and other test data records.
  • Assist in writing, reviewing, and updating JTAs and laboratory procedures.
  • Enter and manage test results and documentation using SAP.
  • Create reports and certifications as needed through SAP.
  • Use Microsoft Excel for data entry, analysis, and calculations.
  • Use Minitab for statistical reporting and data analysis.
  • Create and revise documents using Microsoft Word.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Report equipment maintenance needs promptly.
  • Order laboratory chemicals, supplies, and materials as needed.

Required Education/Skills/Experience

  • High school diploma or GED and four years of proven analytical laboratory work experience measuring oxygen, carbon, surface area, and particle size distribution.

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical, or Biotechnology from an accredited university with experience measuring oxygen, carbon, surface area, and particle size distribution.

Hours:

  • During the training period, this employee will report Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. The training period is a minimum of 2 months, with possible extension up to 4 months.
  • Following the training period, the employee will work a consistent 8.5-hour shift, Monday - Thursday, between 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
