Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Staff Research Associate (SRA #3) to support cuttingedge sequencing, singlecell RNAseq, and spatial transcriptomics research. In this role, you will partner closely with investigators to design and manage complex projects, coordinate reagents and workflows, and deliver highquality data on time and within budget. You will play a key role in planning and executing highthroughput sequencing runs, performing data quality control, and supporting downstream analysis and publication efforts. The position also contributes to the smooth operation of a shared research laboratory by maintaining protocols, instrumentation, and safety compliance, while providing training and mentorship to staff and trainees. This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative scientist who enjoys combining advanced technical expertise with project leadership in a dynamic research environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in genetics, molecular biology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with Illumina sequencing platforms and sequencing library preparation methods
  • Experience planning research projects and interacting directly with researchers and collaborators
  • Experience with core molecular biology techniques, including protocol refinement and troubleshooting

Preferred Qualifications

* PhD in genetics, molecular biology, or a related field

* Experience with singlecell RNA sequencing and/or spatial transcriptomics technologies

* Experience using robotic liquid handlers for highthroughput sample processing, including program modification and troubleshooting

* Basic cell culture experience

* Experience supervising staff

* Experience using Unix/Linux commandline tools for data processing or analysis

Department Description

Reporting to the Director, manage and be accountable for both the amino acid analysis and

Edman sequencing services in the facility. Oversee lab personnel, clients of the lab and

equipment, sample tracking and billing, dissemination of data to facility customers,

maintenance of the MSF web site, maintenance of the amino acid analyzers and Edman

sequencers.
