Senior Tooling Designer

Estimated annual base pay: $93,000 (minimum) - $121,000 (midpoint) - $149,000(maximum)

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Development: Creates detailed mechanical designs and specifications using advanced CAD software to meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Project Coordination: Leads small scale design projects, coordinating with cross functional teams to ensure timely and within budget completion.
  • Problem Resolution: Identifies and resolves complex mechanical design challenges by applying innovative solutions and technical expertise.
  • Technical Mentorship: Provides guidance and support to junior designers, fostering skill development and enhancing team performance.
  • Quality Assurance: Conducts thorough reviews and testing of mechanical designs to ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices.

  • Technical Documentation: Proficient in creating comprehensive technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing.
  • Design Optimization: Competent in optimizing mechanical designs for performance, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Cross Disciplinary Collaboration: Ability to collaborate seamlessly with engineering, manufacturing, and other related teams.
  • Industry Standards Knowledge: In depth understanding of mechanical design standards and best practices within the industry.
  • Mentoring: Skilled in guiding and supporting less experienced team members through knowledge sharing and assistance.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong capability to analyze data and information from multiple sources to inform design decisions.
  • Effective Communication: Proficient in conveying complex technical information clearly and building consensus among stakeholders
  • Experience using AutoCad, Inventor, and/or CREO Parametric CAD software preferred.
  • 3 years previous tool design or equivalent experience preferred.

This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be U.S. Persons within the meaning of the ITAR and EAR, or eligible to obtain all required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce. Submit requests for quote to outside tool shops. Work closely with internal tool shop machinists to fabricate tooling and fixtures. Work with industrial engineering team to develop new tooling and fixtures. Update existing AutoCad drawings when errors are discovered on tooling documentation.
