Role Description

The Hardware and Systems Design Engineering team at Form is focused on designing the battery cell, module, and pack system that forms the foundation of our innovative utility-scale multi-day energy storage system. We strive to deliver designs that are optimized for performance, quality, reliability, and cost for high-volume manufacturing at Form Factory.

We're hiring an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead our Pack Integration team in Berkeley, CA. This team drives all aspects of the pack design and resolves technical trade-offs to ensure the interfaces, mechanical and electrical designs, manufacturability, and serviceability meet product requirements. In this role you will manage a team of integration engineers in support of pack design and execution activities while acting as a player-coach to effectively grow and mentor a well rounded engineering team in our fast-paced technical environment. Over the next 6 months, we are launching a new pack product from Concept to Production. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our multi-day energy storage system product launch at Form and contribute to a sustainable future!

What you'll do:
  • Drive the integration of our multi-day energy storage packs, ensuring mechanical and electrical designs are unified.

  • Act as the technical liaison between all sub-system design teams to execute on a common product vision.

  • Apply a systems-thinking approach to product architecture and design.

  • Manage and grow a world-class team of integration and design engineers, from hands-on technical guidance to long term career development.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers at Form Factory to ensure the product is designed for high volume manufacturing (DFM).

  • Work closely with cross functional partners, such as supply chain and field services, to execute on the delivery of a comprehensive pack product.

What you'll bring:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; with 10+ years of industry experience

  • Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and mentoring direct reports

  • Experience designing for high-volume manufacture in a hardware product development company

  • Experience defining products and engineering requirements, and implementing FMEA principles

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Energy storage / large industrial equipment / high power product experience is a plus
