Brad Foote Gear Works is searching for a Production Supervisor to join our team in Cicero, IL. This is a second shift position working from 2pm - 11pm M-F. The Supervisor must have worked in a machine shop environment and have experience with turning, milling and grinding. This position will develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, and machine capabilities. This Supervisor is responsible for coordinating production and staffing requirements to ensure on-time delivery. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Maximize production operations through continuous improvement activity * Improve tooling, machining, and operator efficiencies * Utilize Lean Manufacturing concepts to improve productivity * Plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes in each area of responsibility * Track and evaluate individual as well as overall unit productivity * Lead team to focus on quality at the source with a focus on defect reduction. * Utilize interpersonal skills to resolve and address operator grievances * Analyze and schedule the work force, workflow, and layout of equipment for maximum efficiency * Coordinate with other departments to ensure workflow is maintained * Properly train and continually improve workforce productivity in their respective job functions * Ensure customer requirements are being adhered to and provide quality product * Assure the quality standards set by the ISO 9001 guidelines. * Provide a safe working environment through enforcing appropriate housekeeping and PPE compliance * All other duties as assigned Academic/Experience/Credentials/Certifications * Bachelor's Degree or commensurate experience in manufacturing preferred * Previous work experience in a machine shop (experience in turning, milling, grinding) * Gearing experience preferred * Union shop experience is a plus Specialized Skills/Knowledge/Ability * Must be able to read and understand blueprints and manufacturing processes * Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) a plus * Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills * Competent in the Microsoft Office suite of products | |
