Job Summary:
This role focuses on developing and managing detailed assembly plans and work instructions for the SPARC tokamak device and its sub-system components. The Assembly Process Engineer will collaborate closely with system design teams, field engineers, and assembly personnel to define efficient, safe, and cost-effective assembly strategies. This position plays a critical role in guiding how large, complex assemblies come together within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Job Responsibilities:
* Develop detailed assembly plans and work instructions for the handling, manipulation, guidance, and integration of complex SPARC sub-system assemblies.
* Collaborate with system design teams and assist lead field engineers in finalizing optimal assembly strategies, including sequencing, tooling, safety measures, specifications, and methods.
* Define and document assembly steps that ensure proper tool and personnel access throughout each phase of the assembly process.
* Plan and manage part movement at each assembly stage, ensuring no interference with adjacent systems during handling or placement.
* Create comprehensive assembly work instruction packets for all SPARC sub-assemblies and integrate them into work orders to establish optimal assembly and testing sequences.
* Develop a working knowledge of CFS ERP and MES systems, ensuring part traceability is maintained throughout the assembly process.
* Address non-conformances and assembly challenges using strong problem-solving and communication skills.
* Support continuous improvement of work instruction packet and work order development processes to enhance standardization, efficiency, safety, clarity, and communication.
* Collaborate closely with assembly engineers, tooling engineers, designers, coordinators, and on-site assembly personnel during Tokamak Assembly activities.

Required Qualifications:
* High School Diploma required.
* Minimum of 5 years of technical experience integrating large, complex mechanical structures (aerospace, chemical, industrial, or similar environments).
* Proven experience developing assembly work instructions or work instruction packets.
* Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive, safety-focused mindset.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly express, evaluate, and refine technical ideas.
* Ability to use data to support decision-making.
* Preference for elegant, simple, and efficient solutions over unnecessary complexity.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Alignment with organizational values of integrity, execution, impact, and self-critique.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor"s or Associate degree in a related field.
* Experience with metrology, high-vacuum projects, manufacturing management software, or NX.
* Experience with large component lifting operations involving components greater than 10 tons.
* Physical and Work Environment Requirements
* Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
* Comfortable working in environments with industrial hazards, including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.
* Ability to perform tasks such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time.
