Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The School of Social Work offers two academic degree programs, a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work. The MSW program is among the highest enrollment graduate programs at ECU and is offered in-person and online. Along with our degree programs we also offer Graduate Certificates in Substance Abuse and Gerontology and a pathway to state licensure in school social work. Job Duties
INTERNAL POSTING: Open only to applicants currently employed by East Carolina University in the College of Health and Human Performance in the School of Social Work.

The College of Health and Human Performance and School of Social Work seek applicants for the internal position of Assistant Director of the School of Social Work, which is a 25% reassignment of duties performed in a 12-month capacity within the College of Health and Human Performance. This position reports directly to the Director of the School of Social Work and is an at-will secondary faculty administrative appointment.

Duties include:

  • Overseeing and coordinating student recruitment and marketing efforts, including serving as liaison with HHP and coordinating alumni engagement with recruitment activities.
  • Overseeing the planning and implementation of alumni events aligned with recruitment and
    outreach goals.
  • Overseeing and approving School website updates to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with College and University messaging.
  • Assisting with the development, training, onboarding, and feedback processes for part-time and fixed-term faculty.
  • Overseeing and coordinating scheduling for all programs, including course assignments and
    ensuring appropriate documentation of faculty course buyouts supported by grants and administrative reassigned time.
  • Assisting with preparation of reports as needed.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of processes for nomination and vetting of faculty and students for college-wide, university-wide, system-wide, and national awards.
  • Assisting with implementation and monitoring of the school's strategic plan.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of School and College priorities.

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Candidates must be a current full-time fixed term faculty or tenured faculty within the School of Social Work.
  • Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
N/A
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
  • Established institutional knowledge of ECU, College of Health and Human Performance, and School of Social Work policies.
  • Demonstrated administrative and leadership experience in academic or nonprofit settings.
  • Experience with faculty supervision, onboarding, evaluation, and instructional support.
  • Knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with course scheduling.
