Required Qualifications : Candidates must: (a) have an earned doctorate in Special Education or a closely related field from an accredited university; (b) hold a current BCBA credential; (c) have three or more years of successful BK-21 teaching experience with individuals with disabilities in schools or clinics; (d) demonstrate the ability to teach at the college/university level; and (e) demonstrate commitment to engaging in professional service.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferences are given to candidates who have experience in: (a) supporting individuals with disabilities across schools, clinics, homes, and/or communities; (b) mentoring graduate students' research projects with single-case research methodology; (c) providing supervision to individuals seeking to become BCBA ; and who (d) hold teaching licensure in high or low incidence special education.
Application materials should include:
1. A cover letter that addresses how the applicant's professional qualifications meet the responsibilities of the position and align with both the required and preferred qualifications, along with a statement that reflects the applicant's teaching philosophy
2. Current and complete Curriculum Vitae
3. Contact Information for References: names, addresses (including titles and institutions), telephone numbers, and email addresses of three to five references
4. Unofficial Transcripts: copies from master's and doctoral degree programs
5. Other supporting materials (no more than two documents/files) relevant to the applicant's teaching and scholarship, including a sample of teaching artifact

The mission of the Department of Special Education and Child Development is to prepare highly effective and ethical professionals who have a positive impact on children, youth, families, community, and schools and who are successful in urban and other diverse settings. This mission is accomplished through teaching, research, and community engagement that lead to improved practice and by working in partnership with schools, communities, and university colleagues. The goals of the Special Education and Child and Family Development programs are to: Provide instruction at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels that models research-validated best practice and challenges learners to aspire to excellence. Generate and synthesize knowledge through quality research that informs the preparation programs of the Department. Provide genuine and meaningful service to the public schools and other service providers that informs the preparation programs of the Department. | Description of Work |

Teaching - Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work. |
| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (face-to-face, hybrid, and online) with instructional responsibilities in one or more of the following areas: applied behavior analysis, experimental analysis of behavior, single-case research, behavioral assessment, master's capstone research courses, introduction to special education, and instructional strategies for students in special education. Mentor master's level students on research projects. Supervise master's level students in field-based experiences or experiential learning. Serve on doctoral level portfolio committees. Participate in programmatic development of the Program, Department, and College. |
