Position Overview

dormakaba is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern based in Reamstown, PA. This role will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineer Manager. The Manufacturing Engineering Intern is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations, process improvements, and equipment optimization projects while gaining hands-on experience working across all levels of the organization.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: Base Salary $ 21.00-$ 25.00 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) Please visit our career site for more information on benefits.

What you will do
  • Assist in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting manufacturing processes, equipment improvements, and automation projects on the production floor
  • Support process improvement initiatives by analyzing production data, identifying bottlenecks, and recommending solutions to enhance efficiency and quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production supervisors, operators, quality personnel, and engineering staff on equipment upgrades, layout optimization, and lean manufacturing projects
  • Gain exposure to different departments across the facility to understand how manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and operations work together to achieve production goals
  • Create and update technical documentation including standard operating procedures, control diagrams, and process flow charts

What we require

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Coursework or knowledge in manufacturing processes, production planning, or industrial systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and technical report generation
  • Willingness to work on the production floor and engage with cross-functional teams including operators, supervisors, and engineering staff
What we prefer
  • Familiarity with CNC programming (FANUC, HAAS) and Gcode interpretation
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) or process simulation tools
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, or continuous improvement practices
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage directly with shop floor personnel and management alike, while maintaining professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations
