We are seeking a ESS Project Manager for our federal team based out of our Virginia Beach, Virginia area. This role is primarily responsible for managing a portfolio of electronic and integrated security system projects (access controls, intrusion detection, video management systems, etc.) for projects at various U.S. military and other federal government sites.

Virginia Beach, VA area

As a ESS Project Manager, you will:



  • Serve as a primary leader for execution on assigned projects. Develop project schedules and executes according to plan.
  • Manage the selection, scope of work, procurement, quality and payment of project materials, vendors and subcontractors
  • Negotiates, prepares and issues subcontracts
  • Ensures that assigned projects are done accurately, on time, billed within budget and within scope of the contract.
  • Adheres to and ensures project personnel and subcontractors adhere to all safety standards, internal policies, and requirements regarding health and safety.
  • Understand project and contract scopes; actively pursues growth opportunities that will help the customer achieve desired outcomes
  • Ensures Technicians, subcontractors and other site personnel complete assigned work per established standards, and thoroughly communicate the services performed and completion criteria to customers
  • Complete timely and accurate project billing to maintain profitability goals and positive cash flow
  • Analyze financial reporting and project schedule to proactively address potential problems. Effectively communicates project progress, issues and financial status to leadership as required
  • Provide periodic project status updates, and monthly revenue, cost, and gross margin forecasts
  • Manage risk, establish project recovery plans, and resolve disputes to minimize escalation
  • Ensure project document controls and deliverables comply with contract requirements and Johnson Controls standards
  • Manages the selection, ordering, and delivery schedule of materials to be procured for the projects assigned
  • Coordinates customer-training requirements
  • Responsible for the management of the Quality Control functions, including the coordination, supervision and documentation of inspection and testing services for the project(s) assigned
  • Responsible for assuring that the quality of the work meets or exceeds the project's contractual requirements and maintains the standard of excellence established by the customer.
  • Works with customer(s) to address and mitigate deficiencies in quality of service, contract scope of work, warranty items, or other related issues
  • Manages quality control inspection program to ensure compliance with performance work statement (PWS)
  • Participates in the review of design, installation and documentation to ensure that the design and customer's requirements are met on assigned corrective work orders
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality control activities and provides recommended process improvements to management to drive efficiencies
  • Resolves client problems and/or conflicts as it pertains to quality and maintains open communication with the client including providing regular written and oral reports to ensure satisfaction
  • Provide updates and reports for review and submission to the customer
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards
  • Performs other duties as required



Required Qualifications:



  • Three (3) or more years of direct project management experience in the building construction or facilities maintenance industry
  • Technical competency and experience working with commercial or industrial Electronic Security Systems (EES) to include evaluation of contractual scope, specification interruption, change order management, basic design, and installation standards
  • Experience managing project financials (P&L management experience)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as needed. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience managing large projects (in excess of $1 million)
  • Experience working with SCIF environments
  • Proficient in Project Management software and financial accounting systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Project preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple trades and subcontractors
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Construction Quality Management (CQM)



Preferred Education



  • PgMP, PMI or PMP certification strongly preferred
  • Industry Electronic/Integrated Security System certification, licenses, and/or training (Softwarehouse C-cure 9000, Lenel, Bosch BVMS, Genetec, Mercury Hardware Vindicator, etc)
