The Sonoma County Regional Parks Department is seeking a Marina Secretary!
Starting salary at $31.28/hour ($65,285/year) and a competitive total compensation package!* Please note: This positions reporting location is in person, on-site at Spud Point Marina, Bodega Bay. Monday-Friday (during business hours) Marina Secretary
As the Marina Secretary you will help provide a positive and safe experience for the customers at Spud Point Marina. This position is a public-facing customer service and administrative support role for all office operations at the Marina. In addition to greeting customers and corresponding via email, this position is responsible for:
- Answering questions from the public and internal departments via phone and in person
- Preparing deposits to the bank for various intake of marina fees, and/or other park-related sales (such as annual Regional Parks passes), etc.
- Running monthly customer and vacancy reports
- Supporting marina staff including the supervisor with meeting agendas and notes
As the ideal candidate, you will possess many of the following:
- Experience with tracking and compiling data for reports
- A passion for connecting people to parks and the outdoors
- A positive and adaptable mindset and be self-motivated and goal-oriented
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical skills and the ability to solve problems by using critical thinking skills and business acumen
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Spud Point Marina Spud Point Marina is on Bodega Harbor at Bodega Bay, California, approximately 60 miles northwest of San Francisco and 20 miles west of Santa Rosa. It is a public marina providing boating access for commercial and recreational boaters alike. The harbor is the hub of commercial and sportfishing in Sonoma County. The marina welcomes monthly or overnight visitors and yacht club cruisers. The marina office and fuel dock are open daily.
Our customers boating interest vary greatly from commercial operations for profit to recreational enjoyment and scientific exploration and research. Each customer brings a unique set of needs, skills, backgrounds, experience, and personality to the marina. Marina staff members are expected to help and support this full range of customers with diplomatic skills, patience, fairness as well as a firmness to our policies and procedures with tact and understanding.
Regional Parks Department
Sonoma County Regional Parks includes 60 parks and beaches from Petaluma to Gualala and Sonoma to Bodega Bay. Others feature sports fields, playgrounds, and campgrounds. Regional Parks also manages the county's largest ocean marina and largest extracurricular environmental education center.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience and Education:
Any combination of education, vocational training and work experience which provides the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, formal coursework in secretarial skills and three or more years of general clerical work experience which includes working with personal computers will provide this opportunity.
Performance Skills: The ability to type accurately at the rate of 45 words per minute is required.
License: Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position.

the organization, services, programs and functions of the agency in order to plan, evaluate, coordinate and perform clerical support and minor administrative functions; departmental and general clerical work practices from reference materials, procedures, guidelines, written formats, and timetables to schedule events; compile, consolidate and summarize information; authorize and/or submit claims, requisitions, payroll time reports; and answer a variety of information such as work progress, routings, application of procedures to specific situations, agendas, status of accounts, location of materials, and coordination of clerical support and administrative functions; English grammar, spelling, written format and punctuation; the functions, timetables, workload, and priority of the administrative and professional positions served; the procedures, work practices, format and routines associated with secretarial responsibilities to one or more commissions or boards if such work has been assigned.
