Responsibilities

The Nurse Manager is a professional nursing leader who promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization while advocating for safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care. As a key member of the management team, the Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations, staff development, fiscal accountability, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective healthcare services.

  • Operational Leadership: Directs and coordinates daily operations of assigned department(s) to ensure safe, efficient, and effective patient care.
  • Staff Management: Recruits, develops, and retains qualified staff; ensures appropriate staffing levels; provides coaching, counseling, and performance evaluation; fosters professional growth and staff engagement.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and organizational policies. Maintains readiness for regulatory inspections and surveys.
  • Standards of Care: Interprets and enforces hospital and nursing standards; develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality patient care.
  • Financial Stewardship: Develops and monitors department budgets; authorizes expenditures; manages resources responsibly to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Quality & Patient Safety: Implements and evaluates quality improvement initiatives; monitors clinical outcomes; ensures patient safety practices are consistently followed.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Builds strong working relationships with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families; fosters a culture of teamwork, respect, and accountability.
  • Culture & Engagement: Creates a supportive, compassionate, and inclusive environment for patients, families, and staff. Promotes organizational values and a positive workplace culture.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Idaho (required)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) requiredorAssociate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with commitment to obtain BSN within an agreed-upon timeframe (3-5 years)
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience (leadership experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated success in clinical leadership and team development
  • Solid knowledge of healthcare finance, staffing models, and resource utilization
  • Proven track record of improving staff engagement, retention, and patient experience outcomes
