JOB SUMMARY

The Telecom Lead will report to the IS Operations Manager and is accountable for implementing and maintaining a stable, secure and efficient network infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity and communication for all users in Alaska with critical focus on meeting requirements for production operations and operations technology.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Responsible for collaboration with all departments to meet the Network requirements of our Anchorage office and Data Center, North Slope Activity, our winter field work as well as upcoming construction seasons and moving into the production facility.

  • Collaborate closely with Telecom engineering within the Development team as the architect and rollout the permanent facilities and to ensure a smooth transition from engineering to operations.
    Responsible for developing a system performance monitoring process that would support in diagnosing and resolving network issues, optimizing performance, and upholding Santos security standards.

  • Ensures Alaska infrastructure meets or exceeds the minimum requirements as per the relevant Santos Management System (SMS) Operating Standards and Core Business Processes.

  • Ensure a robust, functional and efficient network infrastructure for the Alaska Business Unit (BU).

  • Manage a technical team to ensure timely resolution of regional Network incidents & requests.

  • Deliver requirements to enable Alaska production operations to maintain high uptime operations.

  • Proactively monitor the regional firewall to minimize risks of unathorized equipment connections and user access.

  • Identify and recommend improvements to regional infrastructure that are aligned with Client IS strategy.

  • Ensure timely resolution of regional Firewall incidents & requests.

  • Conduct site field visits, ensuring environment is functioning as expected.

  • Responsible for following the Santos change management process.

  • Perform network configuration, routine network maintenance checks and troubleshooting.

  • Monitor and manage switches, firewalls, controllers, and other network devices.

  • Lead network upgrades and installations.

  • Effectively manage technical team delivery.

  • Ensure team is aware and complies with applicable SMS Operating Standards and Core Business Processes.

  • Delegate deliverables across direct reports to ensure high level of delivery.

  • Develop team members through on the job deliverables, special projects and relevant technical training.

  • Track KPIs for team and network.

  • Update and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and configuration repositories Firewall Maintenance, Palo Alto.

  • Ensure Alaska team has created and maintains regional process and procedures with alignment to SMS.

  • Maintain project portfolio and look for opportunities to continuously improve

  • Adhere to and help enforce network security policies.

  • Involved in the configuration and deployment of new network devices and systems.

  • Develop plans to deliver business requirements on time, at a high standard and within budget.

  • Strong self-motivation and initiative to pro-actively support stakeholders and resolve issues

  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years' experience in a Corporate IT position, with 5+ years leading a team

  • Lead experience in large global company

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or related field

  • CCNP Certification

  • Must have experience with Cisco switching and routing, basic networking protocols and systems including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANS, Wireless, 802.11x

  • Experience with SDN, ISE, DNA and project management

  • Strong experience in:
    VMware
    Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop
    Windows Server 2012 & 2016
    SCOM & SCCM

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience working in an Oil & Gas Environment

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple assignments simultaneously

  • ITIL v3 (or higher) Foundations Certification

  • Experience with Powershell Scripting, Active directory users & computers, Azure, AWS, Service-Now, Office 365

  • Commissioning of development systems into production

  • SQL/Oracle database administration

  • Mobile Device Management Administration

  • Experience with Netscalers, PowerShell Scripting, Office 365, NetApp, firewall configuration, Appsense

  • Strong understanding of Cyber Security best practices (eg; role-based access control)

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment requirements outlined below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. A post-offer, pre-hire Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to ensure an employee's ability to safely meet job standards.
