We are seeking highly cleared professionals who excel at the intersection of advanced communications infrastructure, distributed systems, and mission assurance-where reliability, security, and performance are paramount.

Specifically, we are looking for a TS/SCI cleared Systems Engineer - Journeyman to support this mission at Pope Army Airfield, North Carolina.

Responsibilities:

As a Systems Engineer - Journeyman you will provide technical and management leadership for all equipment and information support functions across the Task Order. Your responsibilities include:

    Possesses and applies expertise in designing, optimizing, and providing engineering oversight for the management of C2ISR Data Transport Infrastructure technological platforms.
  • Support of GLOBAL INFRASTRUCTURE Primary transport and dissemination systems including DDS, B1DDS, B2TR, B3IGS
  • Support of Cloud infrastructure including GC2, mC2, Joint Cloud with DAF CLOUDworks
  • Support of Operations and Management systems including ServiceNow, CDS, CAAP
  • Support of network Infrastructure including RGEPs, IGEPs, MGEP, ground terminals and gateways
  • Support of Multiple network domains (e.g., Commercial, NIPR (CUI), SIPR, JWICS)
  • Develops integrated strategies for network configuration management, performance monitoring (e.g., using Prometheus, Grafana), and technological resource optimization (e.g., virtual machine sizing, storage tiering).
  • Designs and implements systematic monitoring protocols for diverse technological systems (e.g., Linux, Windows, virtual environments), network components (e.g., routers, firewalls, load balancers), and user access, leveraging tools like Splunk or Elastic Stack, ACAS.
  • Engineers user access management frameworks and procedures, including single sign-on (SSO) integration, multi-factor authentication (MFA) design, and role-based access control (RBAC) definitions leveraging zero trust approach.
  • Provides engineering support for the coordination of Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs) and troubleshooting efforts by designing efficient diagnostic procedures and automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
  • Designs and optimizes automated solutions for routine systems administration tasks, such as patch deployment, backup verification, and log rotation, using platforms like Ansible, Puppet, or scripting.
  • Operates with appreciable latitude in defining engineering solutions that ensure secure, efficient operation of global transport infrastructure systems across diverse network environments.
  • Utilize the following Role Specific Tools: Network engineering platforms (SolarWinds, NetScout, Cisco DNA Center); ServiceNow; Jira Service Desk; SATCOM monitoring and acquisition tools (Satellite Acquisition Manager, L3 Harris SRVT monitoring, ViaSat hub portals); latency measurement and QoS optimization tools (p95/p99 latency trackers, edge computing performance monitors); cloud orchestration and sustainment tools (Azure Arc, AWS Console, milCloud 2.0 IL5 Landing Zone, Grizzy2.0 containerization with Docker/Kubernetes, virtualization with VMware/Hyper V); cross domain solution monitoring (e.g. Everfox High Speed Guard dashboards, CDS compliance trackers); end to end visibility dashboards (AI assisted anomaly detection, service dependency mapping, mission impact scoring); engineering deployment kits (Tactical Relay Kits, RGEP/IGEP installation toolsets); incident tracking and COOP readiness systems (VPN token management, alternate site readiness trackers, SOP/QRC libraries).


Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role supporting a DoD customer at the CCMD level;
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with a BS/BA or 3 years' experience with an MS/MA or 0 years' experience with a PhD. or 9 years' w/o a degree, or 7 years' with AS/AA
  • A current, active DoD security clearance at the TS/SCI level
  • US citizenship is required
  • DoD 8140 role for WRC: 451; Element: IT; Work Role: System Administrator; Proficiency Level: Intermediate / ability to obtain

Desired Qualifications:

  • Must complete DoD-approved IA baseline certification for ADP-III/IT-III based on the IAT level and CE/Operating System (OS) certificate within six months of the assignment.

Work Environment:

  • Location: Pope Army Airfield, NC
  • On-site expectations: Full-time on-site presence required for equipment management and asset tracking
  • Travel: May require occasional travel to CONUS and OCONUS sites for logistics coordination and facility assessments

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
