Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The College of Arts and Sciences Advising Center ( CASA) is home to academic advising for first year students majoring in the College of Arts and Sciences, assists all CAS Transfer and Returning students with their transition to campus, and provides supplemental advising for CAS majors assigned to faculty advisors.
Our advisors support first year students in the College of Arts and Sciences in their transition to a college environment and teaches students how to understand and navigate degree requirements, course options, and support services. CASA advisors encourage students to adopt a professional and proactive approach to lifelong learning and empower students to make the most of their education in a complex and changing world.
Position Summary
The Director is responsible for all office management including program planning, assessment, budgeting, hiring, and staff development. The Director serves as the College of Arts and Sciences liaison with all other Advising Offices on campus, as well as all Enrollment Management and Student Success Offices. The Director serves as a key member of the CAS leadership team and participates in regular Administrative Council meetings and retreats. The Director supports the Dean's office in information gathering and policy review related to student success. The Director will carry a case load of 1st year CAS majors, in addition to advising and management duties. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in College of Arts and Sciences Department and five years of advising experience working with undergraduate students required.
  • Experience in preparing and monitoring budgets.
  • Experience in coordinating and assessing academic programming.

  • Excellent communication skills, excellent data analysis skills.
