Overview

Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a Maritime Systems Engineer in support of the Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (SOF AT&L) Program Executive Office for Maritime (PEO-M). The premier SOF acquirers in PEO Maritime are committed to delivering the highest quality technologically advanced combat diving equipment, surface systems, and undersea platforms globally to Naval Special Warfare operators.

This is a full-time opportunity located at MacDill AFB, FL.



Responsibilities

    Evaluate and recommend engineering programs and development plans across multiple disciplines.
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor, providing expert-level guidance to leadership and government counterparts.
  • Collaborate with leadership, budget, contracting, and engineering teams to scope, justify, and gain approval for projects.
  • Support technical market research, proposal evaluations, and contract modifications, including change orders and cost proposals.
  • Provide expert input on engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and design calculations.
  • Plan, execute, and document surveillance of design, development, test, and production activities, analyzing performance trends, capturing lessons learned, and recommending process improvements and corrective actions.
  • Review and assess engineering change proposals, waivers/deviations, and nonconforming materials.
  • Support agency-level performance management and reporting by monitoring key engineering and program indicators.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise technical briefings and status updates to leadership and government stakeholders.
  • Apply multi-disciplinary engineering principles and CAD tools to interpret and develop design concepts and documentation.
  • Utilize knowledge of the Defense Acquisition System and federal contracting policies in support of program management.
  • Research, develop, test, and evaluate maritime craft and subsystems, providing technical consultation on applicable test engineering technologies.


Qualifications

Minimum Experience:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS w/SCI eligibility
Certifications: DAWIA Practitioner Equivalency IAW the PWS (DAWIA Level II equivalent), in the Engineering, Program Management, or Science and Technology (S&T) fields, OR the ability to attain within 6 months of hire
Education: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
Years of Experience: Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, including:

  • 3+ years of experience in the International Association of Class Society (IACS), American Bureau of Shipbuilding (ABS), or Det Norske Veritas Germanischer Lloyd (DNV GL).
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and policies of professional engineering program management, including program planning and budget cycles, and financial control/budgeting systems
  • Experience in evaluating state-of-the-art scientific and environmental/engineering technologies and incorporating them into the planning, design, operation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of applicable systems

Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Master's Degree in an Engineering discipline
Additional Experience:

  • Experience in US Navy or commercial submarine, submersible, or Naval ship design, construction or certification, and testing processes and criteria
