Position Title: Custodian Relief and ProjectCompensation: $18.14 - $18.74Department: Assoc VP Facilities Planning & Mgt_QStart Date: 02/15/2026About this opportunity: Ball State University Facilities Planning and Management has an opportunity to work on the beautiful campus. This is a full-time, on campus opportunity. Position is Sun-Thursday 10:30pm to 7:00am Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. What you'll do and what you'll bring: Position Function: Under supervision, perform custodial work required for the routine cleaning and maintenance of facilities following proper procedures and techniques for equipment and cleaning products. Duties/Responsibilities: Clean, renovate, and renew, resilient, wood, and hard floor surface finishes, i.e., dust mop, sweep, wet mop, spot mop, scrub, polish and spray buff, strip, seal, wax, etc. , Maintain carpet floor coverings, i.e., vacuum, remove spots and stains, extraction cleaning of carpet and upholstered furniture. , Clean and service restrooms including lavatory, toilet, urinal, stalls, vents, etc. , Dust, vacuum, clean and/or polish furniture, surfaces; clean facilities, fixtures, hardware and windows; change lighting and clean fixtures as required. , Collect and dispose of trash, refuse, recycling materials, and debris into designated receptacles. , Sweep debris, and/or sweep or shovel snow from outside entrances, landings, steps, walks; clean exterior surfaces of windows, doors, and other building fixtures. , Clean, maintain, restock, and organize storage areas and equipment; report needed repairs of building and equipment to supervisor and/or group leader in written form, etc. , Acquire and maintain knowledge of job related chemicals, environmental, health, and physical concerns. , Lock and unlock doors in accordance with departmental policies and procedures; maintain security of assigned keys, pagers, and radios. , Set rooms according to custodial work sheet and customer specifications; arrange, move, and/or replace furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous equipment from room to room as requires; report items requiring repair to supervisor and/or group leaders; perform minor repairs to furniture and building fixtures. , Guide and assist in training student custodial employees. , Perform other duties as assigned. The above listed essential functions require varying degrees of independence, judgment, and discretion. All of the above listed tools, activities, functions, requirements and conditions will be used in varying degrees.
