About the Job

The High Grade & High Yield Capital Markets (HGHY) team is a product-specialized group within KeyBanc Capital Markets focused on the origination and execution of fixed-income financing solutions. The team supports clients across several core industries including Industrials, Oil & Gas, Utilities & Power, Real Estate, Technology, Healthcare, Consumer, and Diversified sectors.

HGHY delivers expertise across Investment-Grade bonds, High Yield bond offerings, Private Placements, and Preferred Debt financings-supporting client needs such as acquisitions, refinancings, and general corporate purposes. As part of the broader Debt Capital Markets platform, HGHY works closely with the Loan Capital Markets, Syndicate, Sales, and Trading teams to deliver comprehensive financing solutions.

The Analyst plays a critical role supporting senior bankers in client coverage, market analysis, transaction execution, and idea generation. This position provides substantial exposure to senior leadership and offers the opportunity to gain deep knowledge of the bond markets, investor behavior, and macroeconomic trends.

Essential Job Functions

  • Conduct credit and market research to support transaction ideas and client recommendations.
  • Perform ratings analysis and evaluate issuer credit profiles.
  • Execute capital structure analysis and support development of pricing frameworks.
  • Assemble and maintain bond comparables, pricing analyses, and market update materials.
  • Support bond pricing and evaluate cost/benefit implications of refinancing.
  • Collaborate with industry coverage teams to generate financing ideas and develop pitch materials.
  • Prepare client presentations and regular sector-specific market updates.
  • Contribute to all aspects of deal execution, including documentation review and coordination with internal partners.
  • Analyze covenants and legal documentation related to bond offerings.
  • Work with internal Compliance teams as needed throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Build knowledge of the investor base and support marketing and distribution efforts on new issues.
  • Interact with Syndicate, Sales & Trading to ensure smooth execution and investor engagement.
  • Maintain internal databases of bond transactions and market activity.
  • Participate in client meetings and travel with senior bankers as appropriate.
  • Attend industry seminars, conferences, and internal training sessions.
  • Assist in preparing internal and external deal announcements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience (investment banking, capital markets, or related field).

License Requirements

  • Series SIE, 79, and 63- all must be obtained within 90 days of start date.

Skills

  • Credit & Market Research Skills: Ability to analyze issuer fundamentals, sector trends, and macroeconomic factors to support transaction ideas and client recommendations.
  • Ratings & Credit Analysis: Experience evaluating credit ratings methodologies and understanding rating agency considerations.
  • Capital Structure & Pricing Analysis: Strong analytical capabilities to assess corporate capital structures, pricing frameworks, and refinancing economics.
  • Financial Modeling & Comparative Analysis (Bond Comps): Ability to compile, update, and interpret bond comparables and market pricing benchmarks.
  • Presentation & Pitch Material Development: Skilled in preparing presentations, pitchbooks, and client-facing materials in partnership with industry bankers.
  • Legal & Covenant Review: Familiarity with reviewing bond documentation, covenants, and related legal materials.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work closely with Syndicate & Leveraged Finance, Sales & Trading, Compliance, and other internal partners to support seamless deal execution.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
