Job Description

This is a 0.96 FTE position that is scheduled to work 40 hours per week, 11 months per year with mid July - mid August off.

Summary of Position

The Administrative Assistant provides professional administrative support for the Campus Ministry department and staff. This position oversees front office operations, prepares daily chapel, coordinates programming and events, establishes and maintains relationships with the Augsburg community, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and broader constituents.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide professional administrative support: prepare documents, maintain files and records, answer phones, process mail, perform general office duties, and welcome guests.
  • Prepare daily chapel service during the school year, operate the sound system and A/V equipment during chapel services, and film chapel services and manage video archives of chapel.
  • Coordinate Campus Ministry programming and events, including congregational youth groups, conferences, and trips.
  • Coordinate and provide support for campus events that Campus Ministry is involved in, including Homecoming, Advent Vespers, and more.
  • Coordinate with the Christensen Center for Vocation (CCV), Interfaith Institute, and the Department of Religion and Philosophy for special chapel series.
  • Manage and update the Campus Ministry website, social media accounts, and digital screens and posters around campus.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings as a representative of Campus Ministry as needed.
  • Occasionally manage, organize, and clean department storage areas.
  • All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant professional administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Professional experience working with ministry or multifaith functions, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with non-profit organizations.

  • Ability to serve as steward of the broad ministry and mission of Campus Ministry.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and deadlines.
  • Computer, A/V, and technology skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment.

  • Ability to mentor others.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment; and work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to reason/analyze; maintain confidentiality; and demonstrate patience, understanding.
  • Ability to show initiative; organize workflow; manage one or more projects; and handle frequent interruptions.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • This position works on-campus Monday - Friday during standard working hours.
  • Typical work environment is an office. Sedentary work for long periods of time.
  • Regular computer and phone use.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, lifting.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions.

Compensation & Benefits at Augsburg

  • The compensation range is$21.00 - $23.50 per hour.
