Finance Generalist

UVA Facilities Management is seeking a motivated finance professional to join our team. This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy problem solving, digging into financial details, and supporting colleagues across a large, mission-driven organization. You'll work closely with both financial and operational teams to ensure purchasing activity is accurate, timely, and aligned with University policies and project needs.

Responsibilities:

Purchasing Operations & Transaction Review

• Review purchase orders and expense transactions to ensure proper accounting codes and classifications.

• Monitor standing purchase orders to ensure adequate funding and coordinate service renewals with operational owners.

• Make corrections and adjustments across financial and operational systems.

• Provide guidance to departmental purchasers on procedures, policies, and business processes.

• Track outstanding purchase orders for accuracy and initiate closeout procedures to remove unnecessary commitments.

• Respond to supplier inquiries regarding commitments, payment terms, and related issues.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

• Provide spend analytics to leadership to support operational and administrative decisionmaking.

• Prepare reports and analyses to support departmental needs.

Team Learning & Continuous Improvement

• Participate in regular meetings and training to stay current on policy and procedural updates.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfort learning Workday and other financial systems.

• 2+ years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a finance, accounting, or procurement environment (internships welcome).

• Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Ability to interpret financial data and work collaboratively to resolve issues.

Compensation:

The Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000 Annually, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. Employee benefits package highlights include:
