Position Overview:

Brown Jug, a leading premium retailer of wine, beer, and spirits in Alaska, is seeking a results-driven, operations-focused Warehouse Manager. This individual will ensure retail stores receive product in an efficient manner while maintaining a high level of customer service to the stores by ensuring accuracy. The Warehouse Manager will maintain the overall operations of the warehouse, manage the workforce, and ensure compliance with operational guidelines, safety and security standards.

This position will support the Brown Jug warehouse, located at 5311 Electron Drive, Anchorage, Alaska.

Day-to-Day Operations

  • Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures
  • Comply with provincial regulators rules (ABC), and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols
  • Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system
  • Maintain physical condition of warehouse by assisting with planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement
  • Achieve financial objectives by assisting in preparing an annual budget; managing labor; analyzing inventory variances; initiating corrective actions as needed
  • Complete warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results
  • Maintain warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
  • Maintain warehouse staff efficacy by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and completes appraisals
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Regulatory Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure adherence to all health, safety, loss prevention, and other regulatory requirements are implemented and followed
  • Participate in heath inspections, audits and follow-up action plans
  • Maintain First-Aid, Loss Prevention (LP), and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training of employees
  • Maintain TAP or Rserving certificate and ensure employees maintain TAP or Rserving certifications
  • Ensure Alaska ABC Board and other government guidelines are met
  • Adheres to all LSUN policies, with a focus on Social Responsibility

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-years' experience in warehouse logistics and/or management
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid Forklift Certification
  • Valid Power Jack Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First-Aid Certificate
  • Valid CDL License

Physical Requirements:

  • Available to work a set schedule (Monday - Friday), including weekends during holidays (as required)
  • Able to safely lift up to 50 pounds
  • Able to regularly make a variety of body movements including but not limited to sitting, standing, walking, lifting, reaching, bending, twisting, crouching
  • Able to stand for an extended period
  • Comfortable climbing ladders

Other Skills and Capabilities:

  • Able to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, specifically Excel
  • Ability to coach multiple Store Managers and their teams
  • Ability to frequently travel between store locations within designated area
  • Customer service driven
  • Effective leadership of large team
  • Proven track record of success
  • Safety and guarding awareness
  • Ability to complete related paperwork and quality checks
  • Ability to operate (or learn) basic material handling equipment in a warehouse environment
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must be able to pass a Background Check
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
