What to Expect

The Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) team at Tesla is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Analytics Engineer to support our supplier quality engineers and technicians in driving informed, data-driven decisions that protect the production line from disruption due to incoming supplier quality issues. In this role, you will lead the effective utilization of large supply chain datasets for our global SQE team, deliver impactful analytics, and leverage your understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) to ensure data workflows align with automotive quality standards and compliance requirements. You will interact with stakeholders at all levels and organizations, including executives, requiring a sharp business focus, excellent communication skills, and the ability to synthesize complex issues into data-driven solutions. As part of a fast-paced, innovative environment, flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive mindset are essential, and the ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for data analytics and manufacturing, adept at automating processes and tackling complex problems to achieve desired outcomes.


What You'll Do
  • Design, implement, and document data solutions (software, pipelines, dashboards) for monitoring supplier performance of all vehicle commodities
  • Establish metrics and analytics frameworks to evaluate trends in supplier performance (e.g., supplier Corrective action request trends) and cost of poor quality
  • Analyze current processes, outputs, and quality monitoring systems to identify inefficiencies or gaps that can be optimized with data-driven approaches
  • Build strong relationships with Supply Chain Analytics and Software teams, including those working with Gen AI, to manage, implement, and increase adoption of data tools tailored for engineers and technicians
  • Identify deficiencies in data collection, processing, and usage by suppliers and third parties working with Tesla, and collaborate with them to implement solutions that streamline their processes
  • Optimize the quality management systems and processes of Supplier Quality Engineering teams globally and provide methodologies to assess cost savings through kaizen initiatives for supplier quality engineers and technicians
  • Drive quality engineering principles in the development of in-house data solutions, with a focus on reducing latency and enhancing reliability over time
  • Apply project management and/or systems engineering tools to complete complex analytics tasks

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Engineering with focus on Data Analytics or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics, with a focus on supplier quality metrics, automation, and dashboard development in manufacturing or automotive environments
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying large datasets, Python for building scalable data pipelines and automation scripts and familiarity with AI coding tools
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to create intuitive dashboards for supplier quality engineers and leadership
  • A proven ability to take analytics projects from concept to full deployment, understanding not just how but why each solution is built
  • Excellent communication and teamwork, comfortable collaborating with stakeholders and cross functional partners at any level
