What to Expect
This p osition is a key technical member of a cross functional team that focuses on evaluating, defining, and executing battery energy storage opportunities with cutting edge technologies. You will be responsible for the execution of projects from the design phase through to commissioning, while managing all engineering activities to ensure successful projects. The Tesla Energy team is committed, and fast-moving . We are a group of applications engineers, power systems engineers, and project engineers that sit at the center of business development, Tesla technology, and the deployment of stationary storage projects on the grid. As a member of our team, you will help shape the success of our projects in various applications worldwide . You must have a genuine passion for engineering products that will fundamentally change the world's energy infrastructure and want to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. This role can be located in Palo Alto, CA or Austin, TX.

What You'll Do
  • Application of Electrical/Power Systems knowledge to identify & drive solutions for large scale utility projects. MV Transformers, Switchgear and protection solutions arerequired
  • Review single line drawings, communication wiring diagrams, and BESS system layouts
  • Identifygaps in scope and responsibility to ensure project success. This requires a comprehensive understanding of engineering, construction, andpermittingconcepts and rules of conduct
  • Able toidentifykey stakeholders and drive innovative solutions with cross functional teams
  • Responsible for project ownership and execution, which requires understanding/managing the scope, stakeholders and schedule and keeping all partiesin sync
  • Interface with internal customers (project managers, product engineers, sales team) and external customers (utilities, AHJs, contractors, end customers) to ensure consistent communication
  • This isa diverserole where knowledge of basic design rules, constructability, permitting, utility requirements, and engineering fundamentals is expected. Expectations include a rock-solid work ethic and a strongteam-orientedpersonality. What You'll Bring
  • Degree in an Engineering field or equivalentinexperience
  • 3-5years of relevant experience as an Electrical/Project Engineer
  • Experience in Renewables, PV, Battery storage, EPC, Generation system design, or microgrids required
  • Experiencein MV Electrical Installations, Ampacity Calculations, Short circuit/load flow, Protective Device Coordination, Arc Flash,Groundingand other relevant design topics
  • Experiencein the specification, technical bidanalyses,and procurementand commissioning aspectsof major electrical equipment (switchgear,transformers,etc.)
  • Experiencein development of the electrical construction drawing set
  • Experiencein construction administration support (RFIs, Design Change Notices,asbuilt)
  • Experiencein relevant standards and electrical studies for utility applications
  • Experience in Controls, Networking, SCADA & CAD skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

    Expected Compensation
    $96,000 - $162,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
