Pay Rate: $60.00-70.00/hr

Summary:
This role focuses on designing technical solutions in mechanical areas according to given prerequisites such as function, style, volume, geometry, cost, quality targets, and regulations. The position supports and leads mechanical design engineering activities within a specific technical area. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer plays an active role in delivery, ensures integration of contributions from others, and secures quality and readiness before release. This role ensures that designs fulfill business targets and requirements while contributing to product and system roadmaps, business development, and innovation initiatives.
Responsibilities:
* Design technical solutions based on defined prerequisites (function, style, geometry, cost, quality targets, and regulations).
* Support and lead mechanical design engineering activities within a specific area.
* Play an active role in project delivery.
* Integrate deliveries from other contributors and secure quality and release readiness.
* Ensure designs fulfill business targets and requirements.
* Provide input to product and system roadmaps.
* Build and maintain relationships with universities and external institutes within the technical area.
* Participate in business development and innovation activities.
* Develop and manage networking across the organization.
* Provide input to project prerequisites based on component history.
* Support junior team members and peers.
* Act as a role model for lifelong learning and knowledge sharing.
* Contribute as a trainer and/or coach.
* Develop deeper expertise within own discipline while building a broader T-shaped profile.
* Build influence and work confidently within the wider Volvo Group network.
* Clearly articulate how value is created within the Technical Department (TD) / Business Area (BA).
Qualifications:
* Bachelor"s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
* 5+ years of relevant experience.
* Proven ability to lead and support engineering activities within a defined technical area.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills.
* Automotive Industry experience preferred.
