GENERAL SUMMARY:

Assists operational management in maintaining a high-quality standard by keeping him/her informed on the conditions of the assigned areas and by training, supervising and motivating the environmental services personnel to be sure all schedules are completed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Leader is responsible for adhering to all patient care services standards.
  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Performs all housekeeping related tasks demonstrating service orientation to fellow employees, patients, visitors and hospital staff. The responsibilities of a Leader may vary.

The Leader:

  • Performs the duties of an Environmental Services Associate I or Environmental Services Associate II as outlined in the job description.
  • Accepts responsibility for a limited area, shift or task as assigned.
  • Continuously checks assigned areas to be sure work is being done properly and that personnel are following duty lists and schedules.
  • Reports any pertinent information to the Supervisor as it occurs.
  • 5. Instills a serviced-minded approach to all tasks performed by environmental services staff by demonstrating personal enthusiasm and team spirit.
  • Motivates staff by communicating areas done well and areas needing improvements.
  • Retrains environmental services personnel as directed by the environmental services management.
  • Recommends and observed staff coverage at all times by checking sign-in sheet and using personnel efficiently.
  • Inspects equipment daily to maintain it in clean condition and in good repair.
  • Maintains good public relations with all patients, facility and staff personnel.
  • Assumes responsibility for work area in absence of the supervisor or manager.
  • Assumes responsibility for the quality standard in his/her area.
  • Enhances job-related growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops. Assists supervisor with creating staff work schedules.
  • Maintains the schedules and timekeeping in Kronos.
  • Communicates patient concerns, discomfort to appropriate nursing staff if/when communicated by patient or visitors.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years prior experience as an Environmental Services Associate II preferred
