HDR is seeking a Geospatial Team Lead with the skills, interest, and dedication to manage our Geospatial practice in Missouri / Kansas. In this position, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise across all business groups (Transportation, Water, Resources, and Building Engineering), leading geospatial technicians and analysts, and working with senior management to develop business, manage and deliver projects, develop staff, and respond to client's technology needs. In this role, we'll count on you to:
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the Missouri / Kansas Geospatial Team. This includes taking responsibility for staff development, morale, quality control, profitability and marketing support. It also includes coordinating with other HDR teams and prioritizing projects and staffing to meet scope, schedule, and budget commitments.
- Provide technical direction and guidance to staff, leading deliverables preparation, and providing quality control reviews.
- Work directly with HDR project managers and clients to appropriately assess data management needs for complex infrastructure projects.
- Develop data management processes and strategies to deliver accessible, relevant, data-driven solutions to our clients.
- Work with technical teams, subconsultants and clients to develop data inventory and implement best practices to ensure data is kept up to date and available to appropriate staff, teams, clients, and partner agencies.
- Work with project teams and geospatial professionals to implement a variety of ESRI and/or other geospatial platform solutions including Hub portals, web applications, data-driven dashboards, GIS-supported 3D technologies, and custom applications development.
- Understand current GIS demands and determine how best to meet them; ensure that GIS technology is being used properly and efficiently. This includes coordinating different GIS activities across groups, agencies, departments, or individuals across multiple disciplines.
- Develop refined solutions to complex problems through organizing content, structure, and information architecture into user flows, wireframes, and interaction design.
- Manage and oversee technical tasks, determine goals and objectives, and ensure project milestones are met as they relate to GIS and GIS deliverables for public- and private-sector clients.
- Implement QA/QC procedures and support a culture of quality.
- Apply your understanding of project management principles through oversight in planning, directing, budgeting and monitoring projects.
- Review project quality assurance plans as needed.
- Work with leadership to mentor GIS users and GIS professionals; provide recommendations for GIS training.
- Support internal business development by supporting content development for GIS projects for use in developing proposals, presentations, scope and fee.
- Coordinate with the area Cross Sector Services Manager and area Project Managers, as needed to identify, maintain, and support project work
Preferred Qualifications
- Python experience strongly preferred.
- Background applying geospatial analysis to the planning and design of civil infrastructure systems is strongly preferred.
- Ability to integrate geospatially with MicroStation, AutoCAD, ORD, etc.
- Preference given to local candidates.
- Proven experience managing and mentoring geospatial professionals.
- Experience in writing proposals, developing scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 8 years of practical GIS experience; an advanced degree in relevant field may offset 4 years of experience
- Proficient in use of ArcGIS, ArcGIS extensions and Microsoft 365 Apps
- Expertise in data analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to write reports that summarize spatial analyses and communicate findings with charts, tables and narrative
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a GIS project leader including development of technical approach, budget, scheduling, and quality assurance
- Ability to identify industry trends and determine where company capabilities can be marketed to existing and potential clients
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
