About the role:

The Associate Director of Supplier Quality Engineering, External Operations (Sourced Finished Medical Devices Supplier Quality - supporting the Cardiology and NM businesses) leads a team of Supplier Quality Engineering Managers to ensure supplier and product quality for externally manufactured devices. This role provides the opportunity to drive revenue growth for BSC divisions and collaborate with a broad range of global and divisional stakeholders to ensure quality throughout the New Product Development lifecycle, Sustaining Quality activities, and in alignment with Global Quality and Supply Chain objectives.

With an unwavering focus on patient care, they will shape and assure conformance to Global Quality policies and procedures and work closely with Global Sourcing, Global Supplier Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Distribution Centers, Divisional Design Quality Assurance, New Product Development & Sustaining R&D teams, Acquisition and Integration teams and External Suppliers.

The Associate Director of Supplier Quality Engineering, External Operations will be a participant in the Global Quality System Communities of Practice to support the SFMD PLCP process and Quality System Material Controls goals and Quality Master Projects impacting externally manufactured finished devices. They will prepare strategy and lead their organization to assure seamless execution across all aspects of the business.

Work Mode: This role follows a hybrid work mode which requires being onsite 3 days per week.

Your Responsibilities will include:



  • In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
  • Establishes and promotes a work environment that adheres to the Quality Policy and Quality System.
  • Ensures adequate resources-including personnel and tools-are in place to meet Supplier Quality requirements in alignment with BSC's Quality System and Quality Policy.
  • Proactively build effective relationships with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders - Global Sourcing, Ex. Ops Supplier Engineering, Divisional NPD Project Managers, Sustaining DQA & R&D, Divisional QA/Regulatory, Distribution Quality and external Regulatory bodies, and External Suppliers.
  • Serves as a functional expert in Quality Systems & Compliance, as well as Product and Supplier Quality for externally manufactured finished devices.
  • Develop, communicate, and align operational strategies and goals with Quality and crossfunctional partners; implement tools to measure organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Lead annual AOP planning and manage budget performance in line with approved forecasts.
  • Shape the organizational structure and oversee performance and personnel decisions to maintain BSC's rigorous Supplier Quality standards for finished devices, ensuring the organization meets performance expectations and builds the skills, capabilities, and talent needed for the future.
  • Mentor and coach managers while visibly demonstrating the core values of BSC in everyday leadership style.
  • Continuously foster and drive a continuous improvement approach to Quality and advance a preventive quality mindset.
  • Partner with business functions to develop strategies to enable business growth

Required Qualifications:



  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum of 6 years of related functional experience within Quality with demonstrated expertise Quality Systems & Compliance, Medical Device Manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 4 years of direct management experience leading teams across a highly matrixed organization.
  • Experience in medical device new product development and manufacturing of finished devices.
  • Engineering or manufacturing background with ability to understand technical concepts/models.
  • Experience with large scale quality systems and methods that support product and customer needs, including quality system integrations, functional experience with product development and manufacturing processes.
  • 10-20% of Domestic and International travel.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Regulatory or relevant medical device domain.
  • Executive presence, comfortable presenting and collaborating with Senior Leaders as a Quality Advisor.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement experience or certification Experience working x-functionally with Asia Pacific regions and suppliers.
  • Experience leading enterprise or global change initiatives, including process harmonization, digital quality systems, or organizational transformation.
  • Financial experience, creating and managing to achieve AOP.
  • Experience managing high impact product performance issues, including field issues, complaints, and field actions.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
