About the Position As our Senior Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI) Epidemiologist, you will be responsible for overseeing the HAI/AR surveillance activities within the Division of Epidemiology and Informatics, interacting with the Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) department supervisors/managers, representing MCDPH to collaborate with federal and state public health partners, as well as Maricopa County healthcare partners, to reduce the HAI burden across Maricopa County. In this role, you will manage the MCDPH HAI surveillance activities, conduct complex HAI outbreak investigations, analyze complex HAI data, direct and assist in preparing HAI reports, monitor multi-drug-resistant organism (MDRO) trends, interpret MDRO data to develop evidence-based HAI protocols, and implement HAI prevention/response strategies and control measures throughout Maricopa County. We Require
Three years of experience performing epidemiological or statistical analysis Master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a closely related public health field A combination of post-secondary education and/orjob-related experience may substitute for theminimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

Job Contributions
Partners with the HAI Epidemiology Supervisor to develop and coordinate the HAI/MDRO prevention and response strategies for Maricopa County healthcare facilities (HCF) Implements program goals by evaluating HAI data to guide HAI protocol and policy development relating to patient care and infection control measures throughout Maricopa County HCF Directs and supports HAI surveillance staff in preparing HAI reports and statistical data for efforts related to outbreak investigations, infection control, and antimicrobial resistance (AR) Assists HAI Epidemiology Supervisor with ELC-related activities and deliverables Represents MCDPH at the quarterly HAI/AR MDRO and Non MDRO response and prevention data collaboration meetings with ADHS and federal partners to ensure HAI/AR data quality and accuracy Uses statistical software, such as SAS or R, to analyze public health data and complete complex statistical analyses to guide public health actions Oversees all HAI surveillance activities Collaborates with other HAI leadership to oversee HAI outbreak response activities Directs, coordinates, and supervises all administrative functions for assigned staff, including hiring, supervision, performance evaluation, coaching and counseling, and disciplinary action Plans, organizes, administers, trains, reviews, and evaluates the activities of assigned staff Evaluates and recommends quality improvement to systems, protocols, and reports Collaborates and coordinates with public health partners to accomplish associated mission assignments and tasks Develops and assigns supporting tasks to subordinate staff to meet mission objectives
Working Conditions
Position is primarily office-based with extensive computer work using various moderately complex databasesand working under stressful conditions related to death and disease Strict adherence to confidentiality policies is required Must be able to periodically work on-call Ability to exert up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently Valid Arizona driver's license is required upon hire Position requires travel to and from job-related locations during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County and private vehicles on County business Must be able to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
