About the Opportunity:

The CNC Machinist will perform all aspects necessary for the machining processes used in the manufacturing of company products. They will provide direction and communications to other employees to ensure that the parts flow meets or exceeds the customer requirements.

Location: Plainville, Connecticut. This position is 100% on site, Monday through Friday with overtime available (1st shift: 7:00am-3:30pm).

Responsibilities:

  • Load, create, and delete programs in the computer
  • Adjust of feeds and speeds on the assigned machine.
  • Grind own cutting tools and drills (other than special purpose tools).
  • Consistently maintain specific tolerances and accurately perform dimensions
  • Check parts using specified gages or check parts using furnished fixtures to see that dimensions are being maintained.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks, reporting improper machine function and/or check parts not being held to the proper dimensions
  • Makes minor repairs
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Shares knowledge willingly with other employees
  • Subject Matter Expert on several types of machines
  • Follow all applicable safety rules and precautions.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Able to read, write, and speak in standard English
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Thorough knowledge of shop geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before employees in the organization.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of the machinability of metals.
  • Demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
